Looks like fuel shortages are the biggest worry now. Marketing execs at companies that make hybrid/electric cars are probably taking notice.

Hurricane Sandy’s Unmistakable Message - The Daily Beast

Whatever the particulars of this specific storm, few knowledgable scientists have any doubt that climate change largely born of fossil-fuel emissions will generate such extremes with greater and greater frequency. And this certainty imparts a surreal twist to the widespread desperation to get gasoline in the wake of Sandy.

“The irony is kind of amazing,” Francis says.

One tiny glint of hope that we might learn at least an indirect lesson from Sandy came after Vogelman’s funeral. A family of mourners had been unable to join the funeral procession because they could not get gas for their Saab. Another mourner said he was thankful he has a Prius that can get as many as 50 miles a gallon. The Saab owner said maybe his family should think of that when it comes time to get a new car...

From the Forbes piece the biggest takeaway should be
Which makes you think, maybe all those expensive buildings should not be going up where storm surges are likely:( Here is some discussion about whether the weather is weird because of ghg, and which weird may be ghg related.

This kind of article sickens me. It seems to use a death to move into pure politics.

Which seems to imply if Obama is reelected hurricanes like sandy won't happen. All we have to do is believe that ghg causes extreme weather and voila problem solved. But Romney is not president, and Sandy did happen. A president can't stop the weather no matter how much these political articles try to make it seem like they can. The hurricane also didn't happen because congress didn't pass a cap and trade of ghg emissions. The US has actually cut ghg more than that flawed bill promised to do.

By all means if you think you can help the environment with your vote, use it. But any of this using disaster crap is just sickening.
