Not so great gas mileage 3500 miles

Let's see...

Solara 330mi/17g = 19.4 mpg. 17g X $3.40/g = $57.80. $57.80/330= $0.175 per mile.

Prius C 330mi/8g=44mpg (not bad for 70mph btw). 8g X $3.40 = $27.20. $27.20/330= $0.082 per mile.

Savings per 330 miles = $30.60

TONY YOU BETTER GET RID OF THE PRIUS. You are better off with the Solara.

Oh wait....!!! The Prius C cost less than half to fill up after 330 miles? That can't be right.

 

every so often we'll get someone who'll come to this board and complaint about the poor mileage their Prius gets. They expect their Prius to save the world but it can't. Those who defend the Prius knows how to get the best mileage they're able to while those who come here to complaint simply don't know how to work the tool. To say the Solara V6 gets better mileage than a Prius C is like saying an iPhone takes better picture than a 5D MarkIII or a D800.
Tony, we need to know the numbers and the conditions, not just my car can go farther than a Prius C on a tank of gas. With that kind of information, of course people here will give you a hard time. We need to know the root of the problem before we can help you. Without the info, we can only assume driver error. 2 different driving the same car will return 2 different gas mileage. My brother can't get above 48 mpg to save his life while I can easily get over 55mpg in the same distance and condition.

Yep. Gas mileage in the here in the US is measured in miles per gallon. Using vague amounts like "tanks" and not giving us actual miles and actual gallons consumed doesn't give us anything concrete to go on.

Once you have all those figures and you find they're not satisfactory, then you need to provide us info asked for in the questionnaire in post #3.

 

The big 3 during the SUV sales industry fooled idiots into thinking the longer you could go on a tank, the better the economy. But of course the trick was just to up the size of the tank!

This is a perfect example. Double the size of the tank, same range, means half the efficiency.

I can understand why you may not want to answer all of the questionnaire linked in post #3. But when you don't have the time to post any useful details about your mpg problem, then you cannot expect any real help and are in no position to label the folks here as the 'jerks'.
