say you are going a crazy high amount of miles, 200,000 in less than 3 years. You need an ice in there today to take advantage of all the gas stations. Ofcourse adding a plug and a big battery helps.

First Chevy Volt To 200,000 Miles
That is a crazy 24,000 electric miles a year, with 61 mpg on gas, and 50 mpge when electricity is considered at 33.7 kwh/gge.

heh heh. just kidding a little cycledrum, I know you were promting hybrids and plug-ins not bevs for everyone.

This should be a very interesting month with gas prices being as low as they have all month.
Nissan reported sales of 3098 in December, which gave them a record 2014 even with added competition (over 30,000).

I'm very eager to see how the other plugins and hybrids did. Although we won't have Tesla's numbers until February:(

Given that the car is getting long in the tooth, December liftback sales seem fairly good. I expect as we get closer to the gen IV release with these low gas prices the liftback sales will suffer, as people will switch or wait.

    The prius v dropped from
    2012 40,669
    2013 34,989
    2012 30,762

I expect if gas prices stay low the v will continue the slide. The prius c is a newer design and seemed to do relatively well, dropping only 2.4% from last year. Who knows the prius c with a price drop (because of strong dollar, imports should cost less) could set a sales record next year.

Seems prices are still strong...I did a little token year-end internet window shopping for a really cheap used PiP, but they were all over $20k around here. Manufacturers/dealers have the option to keep prices up to improve profit margin as a way to cope with decreased total sales.

I don't think too many families want to plop their kids into a 'whopping' 134 Hp in Prius v and hope to not get run onto the shoulder while trying to get ahead of a rogue tractor trailer failing to yield as Prius is trying to enter freeway.
This happened to me last month.

i doubt that's the reason. but it is the reason big honkin' suv's are so poplar.
