Now NJ Wants To Tax Electric Cars

    It all depends, and someones take will never be fair to someone else.

    IIRC road damage is proportional to (weight/tire contact area)^4, more tires mean less damage for the same weight;) If all that destroyed roads was vehicles, then there would be a good cause to only tax medium and heavy vehicles. This is not the case. Simply time and weather destroy roads, and we need to build new roads in places, not just maintain them. We can think of access to this public good, needs some imput from everyone. Even if you don't own a car, you may need an ambulance to go to the hospital or a fire truck to put out a fire in your dwelling. The federal government collects fuel taxes and truck fees, but states have a varied pattern to collect, and we are seeing some very negative state taxes.
