So in April 2011, they closed the plant but I waited for traffic to clear before leaving. Part way home, the traffic lights went out. Actually all of the power in North Alabama as the tornadoes sliced and diced the power grid. I got home with half a tank of gas; hooked up the 1kW inverter and; we went over four days with just Prius power. A similar weather pattern showed up today.

At 12:00 noon, they let everyone go but the weather fronts were still hours away. I finished my planned day before leaving. So I filled up both Prius; replaced the empty propane bottle in the grill, and; put my new engine in the work shed. Once I heard thunder, I headed home and we've had back-to-back, TV coverage of the storms . . . but no power outages.

There have been deaths and destruction but the rebuilt power grid has kept outages local. Tuesday morning, we will have delayed opening but in my case, I'll be in early and get my work started. I need to survey some backup files to find out if they are any good. The wrong time to find a failed backup is when you first try to restore.

Yes, tornadoes are locally devastating. They don't just blow stuff around but it is more like crushing out a cigarette. Everything goes through natures Bass-o-matic. But happily, the global warming skeptics have announced it has ended.

So in their world, this relatively mild tornado outbreak must signal 'the end of global warming.' That we learned and applied lessons from the April 2011 outbreak has nothing to do with it. After all, humans can neither affect global weather nor respond to the consequences. Yeap, it is all in God's hand . . . and their hands are Pilate clean.

Climate change aka global warming does not adequately describe the paradigm shift to super size weather systems powered by more and more energy. It would be nice if we could pump all this extra energy back into the earth's core to be used later or some kind of hydrogen fuel cells matrix.

I got my doggie from the last Alabama killer tornadoes 3 years ago. ASPCA brought him and 40 other dogs down to Tampa as overflow from that area. Don't know his history but can't be good.
He's a very sweet dog. Half jack & half Chihuahua.

That state gets hammered. There much worse than Hurricanes at least you have some warning with them.

    Good luck Bob.

Windmills could do that, but you would need a LOT of them.

The Aussies also have a sharknado version, but those are more around the coasts.

It's the dingonadoes that really scare me. And the crocnadoes.
