Title says it all. I bought a 2008 prius with 83k on it this weekend. I bought it knowing about the O2 sensor. Has anyone replaced this themselves? Because the guy who I bought it from, was very honest with me, and told me he was quoted at the dealer 300 or 500 to fix it ( I don't remember what he said! it was one of those numbers, either way, 300 is still a lot). I'd like to replace this myself, and from what I understand, my fuel economy is all thats being affected, right? I am still getting like 43 mpg.

What’s the fault code? Do you mean front or rear o2 sensor? Front sensor is actually air fuel ratio sensor and it’s in hard spot to remove. Rear sensor is easier.

If it is rear it is a converter issue

If it is front clean connector. Does it burn oil? If it does this may be the root cause.

I am not aware that it burns oil if it does. Previous owner never mentioned it, but I will look out for that. thanks.
