Hi. Yes I did I called toyota and they told me that's
as for as it will go. They will turn it back to 0,it is called "Cluster", but it cost $485.38. Toyota told me they will half it with me. I don't find that exceptable. I think they should pay all because that is a problem that should be theirs. You would think they would be proud that their cars would go past 299,999 miles. Charles

Search for member Peef in this forum. He fixes the affected CM board for about $125.

My wife's prius (2005) just hit the 299,999 limit on Feb. 14th. With camera ready, she waited as her car approached the momentus occassion. 299995, 996, 997, 998, 999, then nuthin! The computer still seems to be calculating the gas mileage correctly. So it must be recording miles traveled, but just not updating the display. Has anybody ever found out why the car was designed this way? Its beyond absurd.

Very interesting, wonder why Toyota would do that...

Could have been a simple hardware limitation in the actual display. I guess they mustn't have expected many Prius to make it past 300,000 miles on the early models

It was one of the upgrades that they made in the later models though, given the user "2fast4u" reported taking his Prius out to well over 400,000 miles. I guess they probably made that update when they updated the display and the interior in the 2007 model (or was it 2006 when they updated the display, I keep forgetting) .

I too discovered this yesterday, and was equipped with a camera to record the 300,000 mile event. What a strange surprise. It does seem rediculous that one would have to pay to get the odometer to again roll. It did steer me to this forum, so I at least appreciate that it is not something limited to my 2005 vehicle; although, it is still frustrating.

I too have the same problem as about 3 weeks ago on 2005 Prius I went over 300,000 miles and it stuck at 299,999 miles, I have had to replace the hybrid battery and mass air flow sensor, inverter pump, tires and auxillary battery, I average 1500 miles a week

That odometer limitation is only on the 04, 05 models. I remember lots of threads about it, also I think it is the reason for the 299000 mile club.

This problem must have been corrected in later genII models as 2fast4u had pictures of his 2009 with 460000 plus when he traded it for a new Prius v a couple months ago.

I have a 2005 Prius that had the odometer stop at 299,999 miles and corporate Toyota told me they wouldn't cover the design flaw because the car is out of warranty and has too high of mileage! DUHHH.

2003-2008 Corollas have the same issue. 299,999 miles or kms (Canada) is the limit. I think it's planned obsolescence. It also proves Prius is just a hybrid corolla ;-)

    Hello all,
My 2005 prius odometer stuck at 299,999. The red triangle on the dash is on as well. I was first guessing it on because the HV battery needs to be changed. But I am still averaging 46mpg and battery seems to charge fine. The other users with 299,999 is the red triangle on?

    thanks
