That's a filter minder. It records the vacuum behind the air filter. Dirty air filters remove more dirt than clean ones. When the vacuum reaches a certain point I'll change it. Better for the engine and saves money.

Can you imagine the what the knock would be like if you did not have the catch can. How many miles on your motor MJOO? How many miles did it take to fill up? May need to buy a bigger catch can? I did post in the first page to check it more often in cold weather. If it is full, it will not work. That is why I mounted mine in a place that was easy to get to. I just cleaned mine yesterday and found this today. 22 miles driven round trip with a cold start going to work and a cold start back home with zero knock. 21degrees in the morning drive and 28 degree for the ride home. Fuel, oil and water are present.

Anyways, for now I am still leaving my catch can on the top side of engine, not planning to hide it under the intake or anywhere yet, because I am cleaning it every couple weeks, and found maybe about half an ounce of that fuel/oil/water mixture every time i open it up.

The Bay Area has cooled down a lot :)pbut still makes many jealous), my daily drive is cold start stop&go for 1.6 miles of stop signs/traffic lights, and a freeway entrance metering light. Then after a mile or 2 at freeway speed I am in about 4-6 miles of congestion on Hwy880. Traffic clear for 2 - 3 miles and I am taking the downtown exit for a fully warmed up local drive. Well, all of 4 blocks. 10 miles of driving takes 25-30 mins. I doubt the ICE is fully warmed up until the last couple miles of my commute. I think summer months maybe whole lot better with what I see in the catch can.

I'm from "Beer City". If you're not into cross-country skiing around here in the winter you look forward to shovelling snow and getting drunk.

Need some of that beer to save up carbohydrates for shoveling snow next morning. Or skiing. :D

Let us know how yours go too.

We have some morning fogs that may add moisture to the collection? Or I think the water in the can is due to not warming up fully in my commute?:(

Yeah, I don't really want to crawl under the car, and pull the panel off, for a false alarm.

I may try to take the air intake off and reach around it to remove mine ;).

Already tried the flexible-ness of the setup and the Can comes out of the holding can well:).

So it’s a matter of can I get enough of a hold to rotate the can out of the housing .

I know one way to find out(y).

I have 79k miles on the motor. Not sure about the miles between OCC fills. Maybe 100-150 miles? I do lots of short trips.

The OCC is the Danlatu-approved one.

This thread has given me a reason to think about installing OCC also and realizing how good thing it may be! I drive a lot of 5-10km trips on daily basis. I always shut off car after it first shuts itself.
I hope my block heater(what actually heats oil, not cooland on newer cars) helps reducing water on oil and maybe from mist also.

Im so planning to keep my car for many many years, so OCC seems to be a must have thing.

    Take the plunge :).

If nothing else it is a wide spot in the line that you can inspect rather than having to pull the plastic hose and throttle body for an inspection ;).

I mounted ours on the front cross member so it didn’t impede with the PCV functionality. I work in the Chemical industry and have run across backflow prevention that has liquid collecting on the downstream side before. It inhibits the functionality ;).

Good luck and keep us posted(y).

More short trips is what is filling it up faster. Makes sense. Are these short trips involving drive 4-6miles shut down engine, engine gets cold and start it back up again. Guessing 5-6 stops in a day. I know it is really cold in michigan. This kind of stop and go is bad for any combustion engine. On a cold start, most cars run rich and this destroys catalytic convertors with more repeated cold starts. You my friend would greatly benefit an all electric setup.
