OMG, 6 bolts and 14 retaining clips? How long do you take to change your oil and filter?

It takes 10~15 minutes each direction, dealing with cover. I'll spend maybe 15 minutes raising the car and settling it onto safety stands. Oil and filter change itself maybe 1/2 hour. Then maybe 15 minutes pouring in oil, putting stuff away. I'll also get it draining, then just walk away for 1/2 hour, say have dinner, watch TV. ;)

I tried changing my oil for the first time last month. The door clips were annoying. The filter cartridge was tough to get off. I feel your pain.

Luckily, the oil change interval for Canadian and US has been revised to 16k km (or 10k miles) after the first three oil changes. At least you don't have to do oil changes often.

The Canadian interval is still 8000 km's, pretty sure. Looking at the Required Maintenance table in 2014 Prius Owners Manual Supplement: there's "Oil & Filter Service" at 8000, 16000, 24000, then every 16000 thereafter. There's also "Maintenance Service" at 32000, 48000, and every 16000 thereafter. The later includes an oil and filter change.

Bottom line: it's as confusing as hell, but I believe it still amounts to oil and filter change every 8000 km, either due to O & F S or M S.

If the site's picture posting ever gets fixed I'll post a picture.

I stand corrected. Apparently "Maintenance" includes an oil change, so it's 8k for Cdns.
