i have a2013 prius.i removed oil filter and wen it came off so did tube that goes in filter.i looked at it and saw tube was loose and there was a big washer also.after a few tries i found that tube clicks into place.couldn't see where washer went so i put it under tube and clicked it all in place.not sure this was right place for washer.also filter was capped on both ends(dreaded fram filter).i replaced with a napa gold filter put it all back together, seems to be working ok.only had car 6 weeks has 99,000 miles on it.did i do anything wrong?

Had you done previous filter changes without problems?

I changed my Prius's filter for the first time recently, and noticed that the center tube does appear to be snapped into place in the cover with retainer clips. Did it end up reasonably straight and secure after you put it back together?

You didn't do anything wrong. You can already tell it's not held on very securely and it doesn't need to be. Better to disconnect easily rather than break off.

I've got a feeling no, and it's part of the aftermarket oil filter come loose, but not sure. Maybe use the Toyota next time, at least once, to see what it's like?

Do you mean "O-Ring" in above pic? Again, don't know if I'm on the right track. That item is black rubber ring, about 2" diameter, on "Oil Filter Cap Assembly".

    Your oil level is ok?
