After 1,300 miles into my oil change I'm getting the "oil maintenance required" display on my dash, checked the oil and didn't seem low, anything else I should check or is there something that needs to be reset after each oil change?

It comes on every 5,000 miles, no matter when it was done. Search the forum for the method to kill the nag screen. If you use synthetic oil, the oil change interval is 10,000 miles.

The problem is it didn't come on after the 5,000 miles, came on after 1,300 miles and I am using synthetic, do you mean nav screen?

Was it reset properly when the oil was last changed? You have to manually reset it, there is no automatic reset just because the oil was changed.

It was changed about a month ago and by the looks of it wasn't reset properly, didn't know it had to be reset, never did that in my 05 Prius...how does one manually reset it?

The Owner's Manual description of this light says:

    Engine oil replacement reminder light*1
    (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.)

*1: For details, see “Service reminder indicators and warning
buzzers— —Instrument cluster” on page 117.

    But the light itself shows:

In other words, it's saying "some" maintenance is required. Maybe go with that? Or better yet, since it is just a dumb miles counter:

Follow the Warranty and Maintenance Booklet. All the intervals are miles or months, whichever comes first. If you adhere to both parameters, you're going to diverge from the miles counter sooner or later. And so many things come up, you do maintenance when it's opportune.

Ultimately, it's up to you what you do and when. Just get adept at turning the light off, and do what you want for maintenance?

In Canada we don't have the reminder.

The OP shows a 2005 Prius in his Signature, but apparently now/also has a Gen 3. When you say
Actually, the requirement is not for synthetic oil, but rather for 0W-20 oil (which in reality will be synthetic) in order to go 10,000 miles. If you don't use 0W-20, you should change at 5,000 miles in the Gen 3. For example, it's possible to buy synthetic 5W-20 oil, but then you should change after 5,000 miles, according to Toyota...

I sold my 2005 a month ago & purchased the 2010 right after, will update my profile eventually...I am using 0W-20 oil but curious if the oil change should come sooner since the Prius has 170k miles.
