Recently someone told me its not good to have ODB adapters on permanently. I'm guessing the Bluetooth kind you get on eBay, not the ScanGauge. I'm not too sure of the accuracy of that statement.

Does anybody here have long term experience using a BT ODB connector with Torque android app? If so have you notices any problems using this setup or have you heard of similar warnings on using a ODB adapter?

    Thanks.

Thanks Mark, what type are you using? What the guy said was that keeping it plugged into the ODB port and constantly reading information is not good.

There's no basis for a "not good" claim. What physical harm could come from leaving a device connected?

I've had my ODB connected to an aftermarket device for almost 8 years now. It's for my ScanGauge, which is on 101% of the time. That's the entire time the vehicle is powered on, plus when the charging cord is first connected.

My ODB port has a Y split cable too. So, at time I can also connect my Bluetooth adaptor for Torque readings at the same time.

Thanks guys for all the replies... I also had doubts about that "statement".

Planning on getting one, my only concern is about the reliability of the adapters sold on ebay.

sorry. possibly you could look at amazon for reviews of various adapters and then find that one in Sri Lanka. The Torque app is awsome.

mine cost about $25 USD. If you have an android phone, the torque app,on Google Play store comes in 2 versions. One free, the other for $4.95.If you have an IPhone, you need a different tyoe of adapter that goes in the OBD2 receiver.
