When the bird makes electrons, it means there will be a mission.

Missed the launch. Ise been working. This is going to be very useful when the spatial/spectral data start coming down. CO2 absorbs energy in the infrared - who knew :) ?

Globally we have bottom-of-troposphere air samples in a few locations (good but sparse). Previous satellite is (I guess) +/- 10 ppm for the total air column. This one will be better than 2 ppm. This is necessary to perform inversions (basically means to figure out local CO2 sources and sinks). We needed to be able to do this 10 years ago. Now, maybe, it can happen.

Anyone here wants NASA to NOT spend millions$$ on such? Let's you and I talk.

It measures how much warming is occurring due to carbon dioxide?

With an aim to keep tabs on global warming?

I'm glad this one made it.

Dang hard to measure measure atmospheric CO2 from the bottom of the IO.
