Origin story: 16 years later

Sixteen years ago this month, I bought my first Prius.
The reliability and economy of that White 2006 made it possible for me to see my infant son, regardless of how many hoops his mom put in my way.
I came for the mileage and stayed for the community.
I learned most of what I know about car maintenance right here, upon the shoulders of giants.
(you know who you are)

Now, I'm about to embark on a cross-country run, to get the dogs to Massachusetts.
I'm taking the blue 2008,
third of her name,
member of the 200,000 mile club,
donor to the oil analysis data,
bearer of the cat shield,
...something about the andals and the first men,...
anyway, you get the picture.

But seriously, I'll be leaving sometime next week, so if there are any requests for data collection, photo ops or just plain fellowship, let me know.

 

Looks like I'm getting new tires tomorrow morning. America's Tire has a deal on the Michelin Thunders (I don't recall liking those very much).
The tire guy mentioned that the slightly wider 195 size has more options than the 185 I have now. I wonder if that makes more sense in case I have a tire failure in the middle of nowhere?
