... once the Russians have sufficiently advanced, asserting control over Kyiv, thereby advancing columns from there SSE, to assert control over both sides of the Dnieper River, from Kyiv to Zaporizhzhia, the impending advance westword's then relatively straightforward. No reason the Russians can't have Ukraine mopped up by November - Samuel, '04 Ruthiemobile

...'nuff to get the job done.
AND....we've stated that we will 'respond in kind.'

While not exactly an OSINT site, Binkov offers a fairly good high level overview of the 'Not" mother of all battles.....
IF you can ignore the presenter's unusual wardrobe. ;)

Binkov alludes to the surprising (more like stunning!) willingness of the Ukes to fight for the home sod, but the other head turner is the collective support that the Slava Ukraini! folks have received from an amazingly unified EU/West.
Even Poland with their sorta 'Trumpian' government is getting a lot of support from the blue checks.

stating that you will respond in kind, and actually doing it are to very different things. it's like stating 'this man should be removed from office'

    it's why we're not enforcing a nfz

^ If you follow that logic, then we should ESTABLISH a nfz and then just not enforce it.....

    Ironic, huh?
The LAST guy was the one who was supposed to always be making moronic statements in front of cameras.

... it's the river. It's imperative Russia seize control, over that river. Once Russia's sufficiently advanced on Kyiv, once having asserted control over both sides, the length of the Dnieper River, they're unstoppable; the war is effectively lost, for Ukraine - Samuel, '04 Ruthiemobile

There must be a media blackout in Lancaster…..:ROFLMAO:

    No….
    P-saki is actually pretty sharp.
Notice how she always “gets the ‘Vid” when it’s time for her boss to fire up the big white bird and leave the nest??
Think: Time Zones, and an intellectually lazy press.

If we had ANY OTHER veep, it would be time “to have the talk” about taking the keys and maybe getting somebody to babysit…..

    theater

just noticed an article yesterday about MIT teaching a robot to run using simulations and the results were (hilarious?) holographic ....
Photorealistic Design Collaboration Using VR | NVIDIA Holodeck
And another article about the 3 things Musk is afraid of.

read it at this outlet (no warranty of accuracy)
Elon Musk reveals 3 existential threats he's scared of, including a declining birthrate, religious extremism, and 'artificial intelligence going wrong'
I got one to add - a future tax on space junk or tracking fees.

The theater is holographic, ever put on a VR headset or seen a hologram or remember when Gates said in the 90's he was building a holodeck (star trek style)? Not all the stuff in science fiction is still science fiction. But it still seems that way to most of us, because we only get what is given out. Not the stuff that's locked in.

ie: what's your clearance level and who give it to ya.

what was the throw weight the US pushed into N Vietnam? Agent Orange remembers

The Nam was a different kinda gig.
The US never really "invaded" North Veetnam, but rather we came to the aid of a corrupt pro-western government that was invaded by the peace loving, human rights centric people's republic up north.
Ironically, we're on the cusp of getting basing rights in Cam Ranh Bay because of fears by the Veetnameese that THEY are about to be invaded by a peace loving, human rights centric people's republic.
This caused one of our nucular carriers to get a new boss a few years back when his bosses "lost confidence" after a visit to the Nam caused some of the sailors to get the Vid.

Most of the people out there who like to jam square pegs into round holes with historical examples of what is happening in Ukraine use Iraq or Afghanistan, which were two times that we tried (and failed) to get to that "Goldilocks amount." of juuuuust enough force to effect a regime change.

Iraq is somewhat arguably better off today, since they figured out what Germany JUST did.
YOU are responsible for YOUR security.

Afghanistan OTOH, is back to the wonderful pre-12th century patriarchal society that they started out with.
We paid between 50 and 80 billion $USD in post war "reparations" (sources vary) for the high crime of not allowing the locals to use biological females as chattel property, and actually supporting a local government that allowed some local females to educate themselves beyond the 6th grade, not get sold into sexual slavery, and to wear western apparel, drive, leave the house without a male, etc...etc...

I didn't include Libya because that was a an EU more than a US gig, and involved no "boots on the ground." (ish.)
Libya wasn't about changing a flag, or even drowned children washing up in EU beaches, but rather the fact that the EU was trying to moderate sub-Saharan undocumented migration.
The result, of course, was the exact opposite, but hey....
OUR government isn't the ONLY one that does stupid stuff. ;)

The PTSD that accompanied our troops returning from Storm 1 and 2 was what I got exposed to more than anything else. Not really documented was exactly what was being tested during those deployments.

PTSD is not exactly a new thing.
After we in the US threw off the yoke of our evil oppressors during the US Revolutionary War, folks were too busy "homesteading" (looting the continent from the indigenous folk) and building roads, bridges, cities and towns to notice.
Even after the costliest and most brutal of US conflicts (The US Civil War) combats vet either became the local drunks and troublemakers or they put their uniforms away and set about building families and the rest of their lives. Since most company level troops served with relatives, friends, and neighbors - peer pressure was a very non-trivial support structure.

ALL of this was, of course, pre narco-economics.

It's important to remember that, post Veetnam era, we are an all volunteer force.
As a twice deployed (REMF) vet, I'm fully aware that many of our wounded warriors are not receiving the care that they deserve.
HOWEVER (comma!) this is a non-binary issue, and perhaps a STARK WARNING to those who who embrace socialized ANYTHING.
Lots and lots of gray shades out there!
SOME hangers-on are actually receiving MORE care than they deserve, and I've personally witnessed people who self-diagnose and self medicate for "combat issues" arising from deployments where the largest threat was the local street vendors not following modern sanitation practices.
    This isn't new either.
Many of the "crazy Nam vets" were ALSO...."combat vet adjacent" (REMFs)
Like ALL fakes, they're easy to smoke out with just a few questions.

    IYKYK.

mmv - being reared by 2 older officers in secession succession, both with clearances. The trifecta would have been having a younger superior officer, to deal with, even without a clearance in the mix, myself being non military. I guess I just got lucky in one respect, anyways. The other thing is baring bearing the name of an even older Prof that during after tenure also had clearance due to the sensitive nature of the research which was classified during WWII and remains so. It gets a bit confusing at times, noticing things out of the corners or mine i 's
