    Yup.
Please respect the names and dimensions of the picture files.
And then it should load properly.

Finally ran some more tests on the UI file.

    Can you spell F R E E D O M ?

    That's right.
    - we can move elements around
    - we can scale them
    - we can disable them
    - we can remove text under icons (yeah)
    - we can choose font type, size, weight and oblique
(well there are like 60 fonts apparently...)

    That's not all...
    - we can also add our own pictures files; no limit that I could see
    - we can also add our own elements!
(and they can refer to our own pictures too)

Of course we don't have an easy tool yet to do all this.
But at least I know now it's feasible.
So in the next version of the tool, I will add the possibility of processing a text file.
The text file won't be that easy to change (all hexadecimal stuff) but hey it will work.
And we may not have that many changes after all.

Here are 2 screens I was able to modify just by poking values in that file:

    "Look Ma, no Hands!"
Yes, a Home screen without Clock, Digital time and no text underneath the icons.

And here, my RHD version of the iPod screen before and after.
(Hey Teiresias, remember our discussion about that iPod screen?)

I think we are in business!

Bulle sent me a nice little present tonight so I can now compile my own theme.

    Here is Clayfree Metal v001
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6709347/Prius/CFM_v001.zip

It has redesigned : Home, Music, Apps, Music and Radio screens. I will release versions as I redesign more screens.

You can combine it with one of these wallpapers:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6709347/Prius/Clayfree_wallpapers.zip

or can make your own homescreen wallpaper from this PSD template:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6709347/Prius/Metal%20Wallpaper%20Template.zip

 This is all possible thanks to Bulle

Enjoy and report back how it works!

This thread seems to suggest ways to change the UI (appearance). Has anyone found a way to add features such as supporting SAT radio or IPOD apps?

looks awesome! I'm using it currently :)

I notice some of the icons are smaller in size than the default icons on the homescreen. :D

I don't think this unit could but it does have an option to upload your own apps. It looks to only take a .exe file in order to run.

    I like the embossed look.
And I'm curious to see what you gonna do with those little clouds they use when you touch the iPod... hehe

    That's exactly right.
    This is a Windows box.
But you can do a lot with Billy Bill's old stuff. Tons of apps...
After I'm done with the UI stuff I will tackle the problem of having Explorer (and Google Maps with traffic) using Internet through my phone.

That should keep the wife happy while I'm driving... he he

Yeah, getting off the thread topic a bit here but, I also wondered what else could be run on this unit as even though I like it, could use some improvements. So tonight I came across this thread in a RAV4 forum. They're talking about the mods they have done for a QL-RAV977 (roadrover).

Looks to me like the same OS and processor which leads me to believe that it could be run on the OttoNavi unit. The interface, IMO, is nicer than the Otto and they seem to have made some great progress in connecting to the internet and using alternative apps for functionality.

I think I'm going to research this a bit more, investigate backing up my unit and perhaps see if this will run the Otto. I encourage those interested to view this thread:
    QL-RAV977 software mods - Toyota RAV4 Forums : RAV4World.com

And also watch this YouTube video so you can see the advantages this units UI has over the OttoNavi. I really like the Picture-In-Picture function.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions.
