They hadn't even heard of that.

I suspect they deal primarily with the fleet industry, where if a car isn't a Mondeo or similar they're stuck...

It's still called Ford in the UK, although we apparently have a newer model of Focus in Europe compared to America.

Vauxhall is our name for GM, and I think the German brand name was Opel.

    Here's a little update:

I decided to settle out of court with the insurance company of the lady who hit me. They're handling everything and paying for the damage to all three cars. They've given me a nice settlement sum for loss of earnings and the injuries I suffered and have even paid my insurance excess for me.

I visited my local repair shop today, who also happen to be a Vauxhall (GM) garage and sell the Hummer (HAAHAH!!). They've got all the parts and are working on Velma in the panel shop at the moment.

    She's had to have:

New front hood, bumper, inner impact bumper, front radiator grille, hood ornament, rear bumper, rear inner impact bumper, rear bumper spoilers.

Total cost so far is estimated to be about £1,800 of repairs total. Added to my insurance payout the other person's insurance company isn't going to get much change from £3,000.

    An expensive accident!

The garage are hoping to get my car back to me by early next week but have arranged to take Velma directly to the Toyota dealer (who are about a block away) for her yearly MOT road worthiness test as it expires on the 7th January and I can't drive Velma until she's been given a new one.

Frustratingly I now have pretty much everything for my conversion but still won't be able to do anything with no car. I'll get Velma back just as I start work again so the conversion will probably take a lot longer...

    Nikki.
