I would think not. You don't envy the person or covet the thing
that you don't understand and/or do not want.

More likely it's just common, garden variety ignorance...

    which precedes fear and hate.

On of the problem most people do not know how large of the car a Prius is
4 adults can do a 1000 mile drive in one day and not kill each other:D

Your right about the size thing. I heard well the car is so small and actually had one person suggest why didn't I look at the Kia Soul since it was much better and roomier than the Prius. I just laughed it was the only thing I could do. Most of the hate now comes from my brother in law who is a mechanic and he gives me and our cousin who has a Camry hybrid crap about them being unsafe to work on. He is just ignorant and doesn't like change. He also loves to say things about how fast it is compared to his Durango and again all I do is point out that if I want speed I drive the GT.

I understand. My wife just had to have one and I'm slowly coming around. One thing that I remind myself of is that diffent vehicles are built for different purposes. My 3/4 ton Duramax is built for pulling and hauling, my BMW 7 is built for luxury, my Prius is built for MPG. All of these do a great job of fulfilling their purpose.

Yeah this is a big one for us..

My son is only 13.. but he is a big kid, he has very little leg room in the backseat of the Frontier.. he had plenty in the Prius..

True, and a big factor for us as neither of us is petite by any stretch. We all fit just fine in it, even in bulky winter coats.

I hear people compare top "...Soul, Fit, Fiesta..." in comparison and I immediately know they have no clue. The Prius is a genuine mid-sizer, not a compact, and there is no comparison interior size-wise.

I think at least subconsciously, part of the problem is the model's name. It is a homonym for a certain part of the male anatomy. :D

And continuing that thought, that explains why so many Hummers were sold? :p
