Overhead sun glass storage bin "catch pin" loose?

    The other day my overhead sun glass storage bin had problem stay closed. I looked at the catch mechanism molded on the bin:

    and found the "catch pin" seemed to hang freely (loosely):

    Looking at the design of the catch I suppose the pin should be free to swing around but just want to be sure. Is the pin supposed to hang loosely or did I lose a spring or a retainer of some sort? Thanks! :)

    No, the pin is normally loose. The track in the lid is what guides it. When in the closed position, the spring-loaded pad is supposed to hold it against the closed notch in the lid.
