I have a 2012 and recently the temp light starts flashing when it is under heavy acceleration. If I turn off the AC it immediately goes away. I ran an OBD scanner today while driving for about 20 minutes and the temp never went above 200. On the way home I accelerated hard going up hill and the temp shot up to 240. I let off the gas, and turned off the AC and the temp dropped back down to about 200. I drove the rest of the way home with no AC and the temp stayed below 200. The car has over 200k miles. I disconnect the EGR sensor about 18 months ago when it clogged. The car has been running perfect since I did that with no increase in temp. I monitored the temp for a couple of weeks after disconnecting the EGR and it did not change at all.

The engine is not really heating up the coolant that fast.
I suspect that having the "EGR sensor" disconnected is causing this false report........and you probably should fix that right.

Even though the EGR has been disconnected for over a year, you still think that is the issue? I will give it a try to see what happens. Thanks for the info.

Everytime the thermostat opens the temperature is 180F it will boil at 212F

If it works like most cars........
A 180 thermostat starts to open a bit before 180.......
AND a pressurized system with the proper coolant in it won't boil until about 230.

But that information does nothing to help him solve his problem.

That boiling temperature is for unpressurized water. Cars should have an antifreeze mixture that boils at a higher temperature. Then add in the pressurization ...
Were you running up the same hills back then and ever since?

(I just finished my EGR cleaning, intake manifold section, yesterday. EGR pipe and cooler done over the winter.)

I have been driving this same route (between home and church) at least twice a week for years.
