I have a similar situation with someone who is vaccine resistant claiming to never have had a flu shot nor the flu. Sometimes you have to live with it.

Buy a short duration, term life insurance policy with a huge payoff listing them as the recipient. Make a copy and give the copy to them?

When you survive, will that be the "convincing" they need:whistle:?

While experience can be a powerful tool, I like to highlight the advances that have been made through science;).

With my occupation, I work on solutions to increase yields of farmers which helps feed more people. Where would we be if science and data haven't been employed in the food chain?

That's one example, but some folks you won't ever convince:cool:.

Find the one positive: YOU are protected (y).

Appreciate that’s in jest. Yeah their fear is real; I can’t trivialize it. Hits all the bullet points in linked article below. I’m thinking to cancel, but that only encourages the irrational. I do despise the oily fear mongers that create this quandary.

    https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/03/11/with-trump-gone-qanon-groups-focus-fury-attacking-covid-vaccines/%3foutputType=amp

yeah that’s the most positive spin I can put on it. It’ll be a tough love day though. :(

    Don't cancel;).

My family lives in rural Pennsylvania and let's just say they believed and clinged to what the orange one used to say when he was able to do so:cool:.

My folks who are still there were not the same (they may have been some of the rare few that voted for "the man from
Scranton" from my side of the family) and have been isolated from interacting with most (if not all) of them. In the area they live in (no neighbors for a 1/4 mile and used to be 1/2 mile), isolation can be part of life, but there are ways that we always got together with family.

My folks got vaccinated because they wanted to see my kids again. My old man has some underlying health conditions and traveling was out as soon as the virus was a thing last year. I went to college for Chemical Engineering, so I've got them around to the point of believing science and data are things, which most of my extended family still sees in a different light.

Wearing a mask is no issue for me (I wear one everyday at work for most of the hours I am there). The key is to find the type that works for you;).

I know where I work there was MUCH less flu or sickness, so maybe wearing a mask is a way to prevent the spread of things:).

Another relevant example to share with the anti-vaccinator(y).

I appreciate the quandary, but could on no account see capitulating to the Q mongers as anything but the wrong response.

I also appreciate that the stakes may be high. Alternative-reality peddlers have been successfully breaking up countless families here in the US over the last ~ quarter century, including mine.

Is the Q stuff as prevalent in Canada? Some of its tenets seem somewhat US-centric.

^ 300,000,000 people worldwide have had at least one vaccination, and if as many as a few hundred have had long term problems from the vaccine then I’m thinking that even OUR (meaning YOUR too) newsies wouldn’t be able to blur the numbers.

    Those are pretty good odds.
    Better than flying.
    MUCH better than driving.

If the vaccine is given in 2 doses I would strongly encourage at least getting the first dose.
As a vet...this will NOT be the worst thing that you’ve been injected with, I assure you!!!

Probably fall into the category of "stuck at home with nothing better to do" for a year or so and they occupied their time with internet reading:whistle:.

how do you even find out if these internet stars are real docs?

at least mine has her diploma hanging on the wall, and i know personally the due diligence the hospital goes through before hiring.

another thing i know is that my doc is too concerned with her patients health to spend any time making videos about covid one way or the other.

I'm a month past my second shot. And wore a mask in the grocery store yesterday evening. And in ski lift line earlier in the week. Nearly everyone else was masked too.

I don't wear a mask for neighborhood walks, or bike rides on sparsely used routes, but these are unchanged from the past year. While certain local folks believe everyone should wear masks outdoors too, whether 6 or 60 or 600 feet(*) away from others, our Governor never ordered it beyond 6 feet. And more than half of us go maskless in such circumstances. While numerous portions of the state's pandemic guidance were revised multiple times, this one remained unchanged.

(*) actual words from a contentious NextDoor thread.

    Why would you even care?
I'm not especially particular about my medical caregivers - a lasting effect from a half a lifetime of socialized medicine......HOWEVER (comma!!!) I would not trust some of those cited above to wrangle boxes at an Amazon warehouse.

WITH the deepest apologies and no disrespect intended towards the Amazonians, since they at least have enough walking around sense to KNOW that they have a good, unskilled job with what I've been told is a living wage AND benefits...even by coastal standards. ;)
