    Hi folks,
Had my Silver Prius a couple of weeks now, after a 3 month wait.
    Still in "Running-in" mode.
    Fuel so far:
750kms, average 4.8L/100, mainly flat roads, max. 100kph.
Fuel gauge down to 2 bars, no alarm yet.
On freeway at Constant 100kph (Cruise Control) = 3.5L/100km
    (Those are display readings)
First refuel soon, and 1000km service next week.

This is a super SMOOTH machine!

    Regards,
    kenmac

    Hi Daniel,
Yes, we still get a "free" service at 1000km - pretty standard in Oz.
In the old days that was when they flushed the "running in" oil and filled with normal oil.
Nowadays I think they just make sure everything is OK.
The Service book only mentions the brake system checks plus any current factory implemented changes.
All subsequent services are 10,000km or 6 months intervals.
They recommend 5000km if operating in harsh conditions.

    Hi folks,
    1st tank @ 858km, gauge = 1 bar (non-flashing),
    displayed average = 4.8L/100km

Refuelled to full tank used 41.98L
    Calculated Ave. = 4.89L/100km

2nd tank @ 172kms, gauge full, temp. = 25 to 30C. (one trip, mainly flat terrain, max. speed 100kph)
    Displayed average = 4.3L/100
Excellent so far - at that figure the tank range in those conditions would be 1000km!

    Regards,
    kenmac

Congrats on the great fuel usage....

I found the first tank of our Prius was 4.8 as well, but after that it started to go up a bit.

We average now about 4.9-5.2 as a average and the car now has 7000kms on the clock!!

This includes highway speeds, city traffic in peak hour, hills etc..... all seems to average out to around 5.0.

Have you joined the Australian Prius mailing list??

    Hi ajpalm,
No - I decided to stay with one forum on this subject at the moment- I am on several others for computers/electronics. etc. and it is hard to keep up with them all.
Probably send you a PM later to establish more direct contact.
I've been communicating with norman for a while - he is getting a bit edgy waiting for delivery of his Prius.

    Regards,

Even my (3) test drives throughout the top end of Melbourne CBD saw an average of 5.1, dropped down to 2.1 for one segment. Damn that's good.
