Okay so I'm new here and I'm trying to figure out how bad it is before I start the disassembly. I have a 2011 that was involved in a low speed crash in the front. So I really needed parts and I think I may have found them.

So I found a 2010 that is very clean, really too clean however it refuses to move forward or backwards. I can shift it into what ever gear I want starts up and runs fine aside from an occasional surge. The oil and coolant also look good. The previous owner says it was his daily and he had it simply parked in front of his house and hadn't drove it for a few days. He gets in starts it and it won't move. So he had the codes read and it was POA40 and POA41. The only things I've done at this point is verified the condition. I just hate to cut it up if its something pretty simple.

Do any of you guys know anything about this? I was planning on disconnecting the the HV and car battery for a hard reset to see what happens. I just wanted to run it by somebody with more Prius experience and its late here and my neighbors would freak if I went rooting around in the car at this hour.

    Thanks in advance....

googled the codes and it might be an issue with the inverter, but its best to diagnose the codes

So it looks like the pedal wires that goes to what looks like a speed sensor on the side of the trans has been sheared off. Its sheared right at the connector. So I'm waiting on new pins to verify but I think this is the problem. I'll let you guys know later so the next guy that has this problem it may help since no one has anything to say on the matter.

    Thanks

so I got it all rewired to a new connector and it does the exact same thing as before.

It will not move in DRIVE or REVERSE or BATT. It goes in each of them it just doesn't move, The gas motor will not even REV when I push on the pedal in any gear including park.

The car doesn't display any codes on a cheap scanner.

The triangle is displayed along with the ABS, CHECK and BRAKE, oh yeah the slip indicator too and check hybrid system.

So I pulled the HV link and the 12v ground, waited a few minutes reattached and no change.

I now see some say you are supposed to start three times? The car is across town so please chime in if that's right and I'll try it on the next go.

I'm thinking the wires being cut blew a fuse or something but I checked the main ones and I didn't see anything blown.

I will have a test light on the next run to go through them all.

Does anyone have the wiring diagram for this sensor on the side of the trans?

I found this one but it seems to be from the pedal not the trans.

I rewired the 6 pin connector again and away I went. The car now runs and drives great.

I'm happy you got it rewired correctly. How did you figure it out?
Did you find a wiring diagram?

The way the wires were cut it should be easy to see which wire goes to which pin.

Still, who would cut that and why??

I'm not sure why it was cut. I bought the car from a guy this way. He didn't know and we both thought based on the only other findings the codes were for a differential problem. So needless to say I got the car cheap because I had planned on using for parts on my daughters 2011. So I spent a couple of hours on this one and found the problem and now I cant part it out. It runs and drive like new.

Hello bro, what part did you replace to fix the doner/part car with? Did you replace the inverter(Possibly blown)?
