Greetings, I have repaired the hybrid battery but the PERMANENT P0A80 code persists because I live on an island and cannot do the driving pattern of 200 miles ( all in one go... I presume?) and I wonder if that code is what is causing my battery to NOT charge above 70%. Does anyone have any info I could be directed to to get some answers? Really a dumb thing that Toyota did, if you ask me, but this is what it is, so I want to clear it. Thank YOU!
The old school way long before hybrids when it comes to getting rid of this code that wouldn't clear was to connect the positive and negative terminals ends of the 12v battery without the battery, but I've never tried that on the Prius. I do know a battery rebuilder got that code clear on a Tahoe hybrid with that method once. This is a rare but known problem for Prius that Toyota Techs don't know how to fix and will tell you to replace the ECU. But hopefully if you just keep driving it will go away eventually.
Where did you get the idea that was the confirmation pattern for P0A80? Look in the repair manual. Toyota Service Information and Where To Find It | PriusChat The only step of the pattern where the car has to move at all is the "universal trip" in step 6, which takes no more than 5 minutes of driving at 25 mph, and doesn't have to be all in one go. Surely you can find a couple miles on the island for that?
My 2010 has a permanent same code as here I've not been able to clear it over 4 yrs when I changed orig 2010 battery for a 2015 very good battery .still cannot clear it with tis Autel ..Bluetooth adapters nothing.no other codes. So left it chk lite not on.good luck
