Does anyone have an idea of how much the car is worth, with the known defects that it has? Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to keep working on the car myself, I don't have the resources to do it living in an apartment, so I'm probably going to be looking for something to replace it. Any suggestions for a reasonable replacement for my first gen prius?

I see them selling on ebay for between $2000 and $4000 with a bad battery (depending on the condition (paint, interior, mileage etc.)).

I've decided that I'm going to get a replacement car to use for my daily driving and long distance vacations, and also have the old Prius fixed up to keep as a replacement for the aging boat of a 1995 Cirrus that I'm currently driving around in.

This leads me back to my original question - should I have it replaced with a new battery from Toyota (~$2200), a used battery from who knows where (~$1600 from the shop that I talked to) or a Re-Involt battery ($1875 + ~$200 shipping)?

I went with a ReInVolt for my 2004 Prius at 195k miles (only $1600 at that time). They do a good job refurbishing their batteries (Using late model Gen2-3 battery modules), give an 18 month warranty, but you will need to ship your old battery back to them and have someone install it for you ($300-$400 labor, my Toyota dealer did it for $400).

If those are your options, I would go w/ ReInvolt.
