Is there any warranty on the paint job on the prius. I have 3 or 4 small spots on the front of the hood and plastic front bumper where the paint has chipped off. Suggestions please. Either how can I repair or should I go back to the dealer?

Search the site for "mask" or "bra" and you will find many have used such a product. There are black vinyl and clear versions ("3M").

In Florida paint chips are the norm with all the loose sand.

I applied the 3M film as soon as we got out Prius home from the dealer (it's difficult to apply, seek a professional). Wouldn't you know it, a pebble found it way to an unprotected place (inside the Toyota badge) at about 1500 miles.

My question is why did Toyota use black under paint on a white car???

i think it will be the norm anywhere. the bumper, i have had no issues with. but the hood, that is a different story. its aluminum and it simply is not as hard as steel and does seem to chip easier.

the fact that it will not rust easily, makes touching up less important i guess so i would look to some sort of protective coating. adding a hard clear coat or something... not sure of what the options are here. unfortunately, after over 20,000 miles and a dozen little chips, its too late for me and considering i have a tidelands, a repaint is not likely for me.

a mask or bra might have been an answer, but i now have chips that would have not been covered by either

They made up for it by using a white primer under the red paint! Go figure.

warranty is for manufacturer defect. unfortunately, stones, flying debris and other crap on the road isn't manufacturer defect.

they do have cheap touch-up paint, and afterward i recommend a bra/film protector.

good luck, sorry it probably wasn't the answer you wanted to hear :(

Don't feel bad. A piece of ice came off of a tractor trailer a few weeks ago and landed on top of my hood. Of course it put a pretty good ding in it and crincled the paint. My friend who owns a body shop says it'll be $300 to fix it and repaint it. Oh well....

I would recommend the Toyota Bra really helps. In our state unless you can identify the car or truck that is spewing the debris you are as my maternal grandfather would say SOL. He had a colorful vocabulary that my mother never thought I should use. Never understood that?

They have all the Toyota colors and you can order online. "

This is the exact touch up paint system now supplied by Toyota. I picked up one for our 06 Artic Frost Sienna, and ordered one for the Classic Silver Prius. They charged me $6 plus tax.
