You can do this with Tail lights - I have done it before and I intend to do it on my C eventually - the tail lights were almost a deal breaker for me on this car - they are hideous, and ruin the rear side appearance of the shape of the vehicle. To open the rear housing you need to very carefully dremel or use a soldering iron with exact-o blade attachment to separate the housing. Paint, then when you re-seal it use a small amount of clear epoxy, then tape around the lens and put clear silicon in the grove all the way around to re-seal. I did this on a friends honda accord - she bought it with altezza taillights and did not like them and I truly believe they are the stupidest fad to ever hit the automotive market - and I am extremely disappointed that OEM's started working the hideous design into new cars.

I looks good! Is it matte or gloss? I am actually painting a matte black for a friend of mine.

Love your headlights! do you have any pics of the back of your car? It looks like you blacked out part of your hatch? I would love to see what it looks like.

Here is a photo of the back of my car. With the headlights painted there is not a difference with lighting. I do have HID lights so its going to be bright no matter what the headlights colors might be or tint.

I know this thread is long dead, but it looks like eco31 is still active, so I thought I'd give it a try.

    Couple questions:

Did you put the lights on a cookie sheet or something when you put them in the oven? Gas or electric oven?

Did you decide not to remove the yellow/orange reflector for a specific reason? Is it attached to the outer lens or the inner housing?

Did you heat up the silicone before you reattached the lens?

    Thanks in advance!

the best way to do it is with a heat gun.

How much do you want for the matte black head lights? Did you paint your tail lights, also?

The best way to seperate the clear housing is a heat gun. You do not need to buy anything aside from paint. Just heat up the seal a little bit before putting it all together and it will seal properly without any problems. The side of my tail lights are from Japan. It's a Aqua accesory that you can you can purchase online. I had someone paint my tail lights after going through 2 sets. It is not easy to get a nice matte finish.
