    Basics:
    1. Sunnis and Shiites hate each other.
    2. Sunnis have had the upper hand over Shiites for hundreds of years, Sunnis dominated.
    3. Iran is Shiite
    4. Lebanon Shiite's basically taking over Lebanon.
    5. Iraq is 65% Shiite
    6. Iraqis are Arab and Iranians are Pharsi.
    7. Bush's advisors told him, and Bush went with the advice, that Iraqi/Arab Nationalism would be more important to Iraq Shiites than joining other Shiites, in other words Bush went with the advice that
Iraq Shiites would not be interested in hooking up with Iran.
    8. The most important Shiite leader in Iraq is Iranian (Ali Sistani) and the head of Iran's judiciary is Iraqi (Ayatollah Mahmoud Shahroudi).
    9. Number 7 was bad advice.

Bush has opened up the Pandora's box of the mideast. He is giving rise to the Shiites. The Sunni states (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan) will hate us for giving rise, even if unknowingly, to the Shiites. Iran is most likely Mideast country to get nuclear bomb other than Isreal. Countries that have nuclear bombs tend to be influential. Shiites are about to turn the tables in the Mideast; they are already doing it. Hezbollah gets its money and weapons from Iran. So unless we become friendly with Iran we could be worse off than before the Iraq war. Well that's what you get when you have a President who never went outside his own country before he became President. He did not even leave during his military service in the Vietnam war :p .

What will a Mideast with powerful Shiites be like? We are about to find out.

We did not know how good we had it when all we had to worry about was the Soviet Union.

U.S., France OK U.N mideast truce pact

First I have to say, what business is it of ours to OK anything? Isn't this between Lebanon and Israel? Why can't we just mind our own business? Aside from the part about us pretty much starting it in the first place by attacking Iraq?

"The United States and France agreed Saturday on a draft
U.N. Security Council resolution that calls for a "full cessation" of fighting between
Israel and Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas, but would allow Israel to defend itself if attacked.

The draft, obtained by The Associated Press, "calls for a full cessation of hostilities based upon, in particular, the immediate cessation by Hezbollah of all attacks and the immediate cessation by Israel of all offensive military operations.""

And of course the scariest thing is that John Bolton is in the middle of all of this. Oh yeah, I am so confident in his negotiating skills. He's such a people person, so sensitive to others feelings and points of view.

What's especially shocking is that he is a participant of the Project for the New American Century... this is no joke nor a conspiracy theory... but this neocon group advocates the US, more or less, being a global domination force.

Shockingly and ultimately anti-democratic and anti-humanity stuff... and unless everyone votes these radicals out of office, Iraq will only become a stepping stone. Note that there is no evidence that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons... and even if they do, they've got their work cut out for them:
