Park adds nothing to MPG at a light, was there some feature you do feel it adds? I put my car in D and drive all day. The car knows the best way to get MPGs.

    Who said anything about MPG's?

Gnarly, check with you local MV statues but IIRC here it's illegal. I almost got run over on my m/c years ago because I slipped it into neutral as I came to a stop at the back of the line and the next car to arrive had their head up their you-know-what. Now I keep it in gear until one or more cars have cued behind me. Then and only then will slip it into neutral. Park? Only if there's a major delay (train, accident, etc).

Yep, I'll put it on park when the car being me has stopped too.

When I used to ride my motorcycle, I'd only put the gear on neutral when the traffic is stopped so I can rest my wrists. But I'm California so I will go to the limit line and do that.

No. Well, unless it's a train crossing and a long freight train rolling by. Then I'll shut it off. Usually just around the time the train has passed, lol.

I go to "Hill Hold" if it is going to be a long light. Then just a light touch on the pedal will keep it in that mode.

@Gnarly I get the sense you've got tendon/ligament issues. Maybe look up some excercises, try light weights?

I do the same. Press the park button, but not the parking brake. It seems like some of these red lights can last for five minutes. Plus, it saves wear and tear on the brake lights. (yeah I know, they are LED and last forever. Supposedly.)

Do brake lights go out with just the parking brake on? I'm not sure, would have to check.

thanks man, I do stretch but probably don't stretch enough after the workout or before I drive.
    I stretch extensively before I lift. I can deadlift 415 lbs / squat 425 lbs / bench 280 lbs.
My rep max on this are 8 RM.

Depends on what I'm up to but generally no. If I'm after my wallet or something where I have to shift around or stretch to get it I'll put it in park but that type of thing is more typical of a drive thru line than a stop light. On my bike or in my manual cars I'll wait for a vehicle or two behind me to stop then slip it to neutral so I don't have to hold the clutch. In the cars if there's a bit of a slope I'll using the parking brake to hold me.

Of course, because they would stay on when the car is parked.

if my foot/leg is aching, i'll throw it in park. on a hill, the hsa, but we don't have many that park can't handle.
i did gun it once when the light turned green, but it was still in park. that induced a few horns.

I'd prefer to be ready to go in case there's an issue/emergency. Gotta be able to move immediately if needed.

So why do you think that both are needed ?
They aren't. The parking brake should be plenty.
