While waiting in parking lot and outside temperature is about 90F, AC on, and ICE comes while battery has plenty of charge.

Any idea why? Is this normal? I used to drive in EV mode and ICE won't be on, but I seldom idle for long period with AC on.

It's 95° - 96° here with high dew point (68) to boot (high humidity) and I've not had this happen when in EV mode. I tend to keep my A/C in ECO and Auto with the temp set about 10° lower than the outside air.

Define. Also, what mode were you in at the time?

It could also be a completely coincidental controlled burn that just happened to be when you were in the parking lot if the engine hadn't started in a while. Is EV driving the norm for you?

that won't affect it. i think he meant hv/ev/auto. are we sure the prime doesn't run the ice every so often? there sure are a lot of 'my engine started unexpectedly' reports.

Yesterday it was 100.4° with a dew point of 82. That's 55% humidity and sweltering if you've not felt it. I tried parking on black asphalt with the A/C on in full sun for 10 minutes, with 9 miles if EV range left. A/C was in Auto mode, ECO with the temp set at 80°. Car was in EV - ECO drive mode. The engine never started. My work is done here.;)
