Just bought this 2012 Prius IV yesterday. It seems to be top of line with every option installed. Discovered today the following about passenger front door:
    1. Once locked, it will not open from the outside even it if it unlocked via FOB, inside unlock buttons, or inside lock toggle
    2. It opens fine from the inside
    3. Once open from the inside, the outside handle works fine again until the door is once again locked
Kinda bummed that this is day 1 with the car. Hoping maybe it is user error. Otherwise the car is pristine and in like-new condition for a 9 year old car.

Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I cannot fix this myself. Any opinions if it needs to be a dealer job or local shop could do (or estimate of what it might cost)?

Probably a simple job for a local shop. If it were mine, taking the trim off the door and getting my own look-see would be my first inclination.

Turned out to be the actuator. Local shop put a used one in from the parts-yard (2014) and all good now ($360 later).

$550 from Local Shop and $600-700 at Dealer.
