On 2009 Prius: The passenger window motor works fine.. I can press it to go down or up. When I press up, the window goes down to 1/2 open automatically. I just had a jump to start the car yesterday and the window problem started right after that. Is it possible something got damaged during the jump start? If so, can someone tell me how to fix it? I am NOT mechanically inclined, So, please be simple in explanation. Thank you so much.

    Welcome to PriusChat!!

How old is the 12v battery, or when was it last replaced?

FYI : you're being moderated until you've posted 5 times.

When the power is lost for whatever reason, Gen 2 windows forget where 'up' is.

Then when you send the window up, it hits the top of the door and that triggers the safety backoff (just as you would want if the window encounters your arm on the way up), because the window doesn't know that position is 'up' and it only hit the top of the door.

To have the window relearn where up and down are, roll it all the way down and hold the button down several seconds, then roll it all the way up and hold the button up several seconds, and after that it should know where up and down are again.

The procedure is in your owner's manual in case I'm whiffing the details.

Thanks for your answer. I wish I had tried that, but it's cold outside and I needed the window up, so I took it to dealer who reprogrammed the computer.

That Mastercard campaign was clever, but I hope people don't end up forgetting the older joke. That was a good'un too.
