They criticize violence in movies too, but that didn't stop them from strongly endorsing The Passion Of The Christ. I guess only time will tell whether the plans of these game manufacturers will be successful in distributing the game through churches and spreading the dominionist agenda of violence-based Christianist supremacy to vulnerable children.

Here's another article that links him.

"The international director of Mr. Warren's Purpose Driven Church, Mark Carver, is a former investment banker who serves on the Advisory Board of the corporation created in October 2001 to develop and market this game. The creators plan to market their game using the same network marketing techniques that Mr. Warren used to turn The Purpose Driven Life into a commercial success. For example, they plan to distribute their merchandise through pastoral networks, especially mega-churches."

"What is going on here is an old fashioned business idea of endorsement by association, in which a corporation gains the implied endorsement of a product by being able to invoke the name brand of a prominent person or celebrity. In this case, this is an alliance of business and ministerial interests invoking the name brand of the Mr. Warren's Purpose Driven Church. Mr. Warren does not have to explicitly endorse or be involved in the product in order to be held accountable for allowing his name brand to be used in the selling of this antisocial product."

"Some people have commented that the link between Mr. Warren's purpose driven empire and this product is casual. Let's be clear: Mark Carver is Executive Director of the Purpose Driven Church, and therefore works directly for Mr. Warren in one of the most senior roles in his empire. It would seem unlikely that Mr. Warren, who plans an international stealth evangelism campaign that already includes the president of Rwanda, is unaware of this project, the biggest Christian video game in history. Mr. Carver's role on the Advisory Board of Left Behind Games, the corporation created in October 2001 specifically to develop and market this violent video game, is an association clearly more active than a casual. People are involved on this Advisory Board because of their expertise, and their connections to markets -- in this case, Mr. Warren's. On its corporate web site -- part of its merchandising pitch -- Left Behind Games touts its association with Mr. Carver, and makes clear his prominent role in Mr. Warren's Purpose Driven Church."

That sounds like a link to me.

Why would Rick and his group have their connection pulled? It seems the game developers also allowed you to play the part of Satan in the game.

"It's absurd," said the video critic. "You can be the Christians blowing away the infidels, and if that doesn't hit your hot button, you can be the Antichrist blowing away all the Christians."

    Kids kill in violent videogame

"Mark Carver, the executive director of Purpose Driven Ministries in every region except North America, turned out to be the business advisor to Left Behind Games. Hutson was incensed by this apparent conflict of interest, which he termed "endorsement by association." He challenged, "Where is the pastoral leadership while a bigoted videogame is being networked and marketed through mega-churches?" After two heated posts on Talk To Action that echoed across the blogosphere from the Huffington Post to BlondeSense to Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish, Mark Carver resigned on June 5. A day later, Hutson received official word from Purpose Driven notifying him of Carver's resignation and declaring that Warren and Purpose Driven had no plans to endorse Left Behind: Eternal Forces."

Do you really think Rick Warren was clueless? And now that he knows...why isn't he speaking out against this game that teaches kids wholesale slaughter? Why isn't he putting his full power against it?

Pat has said some odd stuff in the last 3 or 4 years. Your global warming teamship with him probably is only good until sometime in January.

He'll go outside and then put out a statement regarding the global cooling he is experiencing.

But, never fear, you'll have him back on the global warming team next summer. (if you want him for a teammate)

Yep, he practically sleeps with both of them! He's on the board of the church, and he serves on an Advisory Board for the corporation marketing the game. Give me a break. Can't you see how tenuous this is? There is no link to Rick Warren in this at all. The link is to one of his advisors who is also an advisor to another corporation.

Yes, because I know how advisory boards and church "government" work. This is along the same lines that had a certain political leader in the middle of a "circle of death" and "drug running at Mina Airport". It is what James Carville said was playing "connect the dots" without considering what the dots are.

BUT, if you are pre-disposed to believing the Clinton is a horrible person, you will believe the "Circle of Death" clap-trap along with the drug running charges. And if you are an anti-Christian bigot, you will believe that Rick Warren actually wrote the video game to encourage Christian teens to shoot liberals in the face (because that's how twisted the story will get fairly soon).

It is modern political slander, engaged by both sides, and it is sickening. Are there any adults left in the country?
