Pedestrian struck, killed in Anaheim; driver flees

    Well, I think we can both agree that in this case, there was no excuse. Nothing has pointed out that this guy was jaywalking. Until something comes up, we have no reason to believe he was.

    According to the Orange County Register article which I linked in my original post, the victim was jaywalking:

    Concerning the speed limit, Harbor Blvd is a major thoroughfare in Orange County. It is a divided roadway with at least three lanes of traffic in each direction. The main entrance to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure is from Harbor. This accident took place about a mile south of Disneyland. I have not been there for a while, but the speed limit along most of that road is at least 40 MPH.

    Where did I suggest that it was OK for the driver to leave the scene of the accident without rendering aid to the injured elderly person and without identifying him/herself to the authorities? :unsure:

    Whether the driver is at fault or not it is a crime to run away like a coward without complying with the legal provisions that apply in such tragic situations.
