I don't have a picture of mine handy... but the plate says "1701B"
The license frame says "My other vehicle has warp nacelles"

(If either of those don't make sense, lets just say I'm a star trek nerd.)

okay, I may be a star trek nerd, but you've got me beat...
I need to send that to the husband. He rolled his eyes at my choice in plates, but accepts it since as he puts it "It takes a special kind of nerd to even get the reference."

Hmmm. The 1701B was a piece of junk. An Excelsior class ship that got trashed on its first mission.
I believe Commander Scott called the first one "a bucket of bolts."

The B is an Excelsior Class Refit, compared to the original Scott was referring to. :p
And I root for the underdogs. I just like her.

And I wouldn't call it trashed, it fared better than the D did.... it was still in in space and not planet-surfing. If you opt to include the books into lore, it was repaired and was in service for many more years, including the Tomed incident.

You could've used two I's, but I don't know how many letters you're allowed. Plus, you would then have the sequence PRII in your license plate, even though you just have one. I assume john1701a has seen your car?

Damn, two II's. Wish I had thought about that. The limit is 8 characters on a NYState plate.

I have been sending URLs to john1701a, but my Web pages won't load for him. I just tweaked them again.

You can try here, and PM if it works or not, and what browser you are using.

I believe that DEVNULL is already taken in California. And way back when California only allowed 6 characters, I remember seeing DEVNUL (one L).

The "E" certainly doesn't mean "electric" to those in the know.

    Mine says 0IXI0

    God knows why.

I applied online at 3:00 in the morning, I couldn't sleep, and it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Years ago I saw a car with the license plate:
    • ZU SPAT
It was a white VW Rabbit.

You really want people to know that your father was a guy stupid enough to be going 100 mph while carrying a bagful of weed and unprescribed drugs?

Mine are actually amateur radio operator plates, same as my nick here.

Which brings up another question, how many HAMs do we have on the board?

From my count about a year ago ... less than a dozen that are actually keying up on any regular basis.

I used to be KD6WXQ, but I let the license expire like an idiot, retook the technician test, passed, got assigned KI6KGV and then applied for the vanity call sign of K6DEV which just got granted.

O.K. now comes the tricky question.

Where in the Prius are ya'll mounting your mobile units, or are you just doing like I currently do and using a handheld?

License plate has KD5RHR... and my IC-208H control head is mounted in the small door that opens below the radio. Invisible there (door closes), drill a hole in the back of the storage area big enough for the plug to go through. The control head is the exact size to be placed there, I used Silicone Seal to glue it in and it should easily remove when I want to. Another cool thing is you can read out what the radio is doing at night with the door closed. The main unit is in the trunk, just sitting on the floor until I mount it permanently. Others have placed it in the left-rear storage area, but I'm concerned about summer heat there. The HV battery ventilation goes outside and so does not cool under trunk floor. I used a handheld for a couple months while I pondered what to do. There's lots of ham radio postings here, use the search function for "amateur radio" or "ham radio". One thread... 73!!
