On 3 June 2013, I traded in my 2010 Prius Five for a 2013 Prius Five w/Advanced Technology Package.

Over the 2.5 years I had my 2010, I did a good bit of modding. It took me about 7 hours to pull all the mods off and, for the most part, return it back to stock. Most of those mods should be finding their way back onto the 2013.

Here is the story of my 2013 Prius :)

Thanks guys! Most of the parts were installed on the old car. It was fun putting them on, then pulling them off. It's gonna be fun to put them back on to enjoy them again :)

I'm hoping to report on being able to get some of the easy stuff put back in the car tomorrow.

I dropped off a number of parts to the powder coater on Monday. It will be about six weeks until I get them back. The Cusco underbraces had a a few rust spots and paint chips from their life under the car. They are all going to be cleaned and coated in Astatic Red. I'm toying with the idea of throwing my Eibachs in there too... :)

I wanted to go orange but Toyota uses orange as an identifier for "High voltage" components. I didn't want to confuse the mechanics if I needed work done on the car.

    Parts getting coated:
    - Hella Horn cages
    - Cusco Front Lower Arm Brace
    - Cusco Front Brace
    - Cusco Mid Brace
    - Cusco STB end brackets
    - Hotchkis Front and Rear sway bars

:)I really like the Prius 5, especially with ATP. Once I decided on a Prius, I had to have the 5 with ATP. I was swayed at the last minute and went with the Prius Plug In Advance. Put the Prius 5, 17" wheels on the first week. Takes a sharp eye to notice the difference between the two.

    6/17/2013 update @ 1,200 miles

I was able to get a few things done today.

    1) Installed my Pure White (5,000k) exLED interior LED light kit.
    2) Replaced the Toyota OE LED glovebox and footwell lights with Lexus OE LEDs
    3) Replaced the Toyota cabin filter with a Fram Fresh Breeze filter
    4) Picked up my wheels and freshly mounted tires from IAG Performance

    View attachment 53237

    1) Pure White (5,000k) exLED interior LED light kit.

The exLED light kit which I purchased for my 2010 Prius five went in perfectly in my 2013 Prius five. Looks like Toyota revised the light housing for the vanity mirror lights between 2010 and 2013. You are able to access the bulbs a lot easier. The only LED lights from the kit which I did not use are the license plate LEDs. I separate housings for those :)

The 5,000k color matches well with the Lexus OE LEDs but the intensity of the brightness is MUCH stronger. The brightness of the front and rear dome lights are adjustable on the LED circuit board itself.

    2) Lexus OE LEDs - Part No. 81080-22040

I replaced the yellow/orange LEDs which illuminate the drivers and passenger side footwells and the glovebox. The Lexus part 81080-22040 is a direct fit replacement. You will need three of them. All three are easily accessible and very simple to just pull out of their housings, and push them back in.

These lights match well with the Pure White (5,000k) exLED interior light kit but are MUCH less intense in brightness. This is fine for me since I don't need flashlights on my feet while driving :)

    3) Fram Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter - Part No. CF10285

I pulled out the OE one and slid in this. It's an air filter with some carbon filtration.

    4) Forgestar F14 wheels and Continental DWS 225/40/18

    uploadfromtaptalk1371515074174.jpg

Wheels and tires are now on the car! I previously had Continental DWS 215/40/18s mounted on these and had them replaced with 225/40/18s. The 215/40/18 was too much stretch for my liking. I might have to go back because the 225s look like they might have fender rub issue

My car is in need of being lowered now! :)

    Size: 18x8.5, +48 offset

I need to thank More Performance for being a vendor for ordering these wheels. They provided excellent customer service throughout the order process and even seven months down the road when I thought I had issues.
Moore Performance (Moore Performance & Race Parts)

I also need to thank IAG Performance for mounting and balancing the wheels and tires. They also provided excellent customer service and took care of me, my car, and my parts wonderfully. The staff were very informative and made sure that they addressed all of my concerns.

I'm teetering on the idea of going coilovers or staying with Eibachs.

Someone please build my confidence and say their coilover setup is smoother/more comfortable than springs!

I discussed this awhile ago with a buddy who has coilovers in his Talon and he showed me how riduculously easy they were to adjust. The car does ride nice set for street (?) He also explained that if you ride a lot of miles, coilovers cannot have parts replaced, it's all or none. I'm not so sure how true this is but I bought it and went with the Eibachs knowing that every year or so I'll just replace the struts/shocks as they wear and refresh the ride, still only $400 per year or two, versus $2k for good coilovers. In reading over PC the last year, and in my past week's adventures, it does sound like coilovers are the way to go if you want to spend the cash. Just my 2 cents :)

Coilovers can be rebuilt and parts replaced once they start to wear. That could depend on what the brand purchased though. TEIN USA | SERVICE | Overhaul Basic Price

I'm eyeing the Tein Street Advance... or maybe just the Basis :)

Today, I used my ATEQ Quickset tool to swap TPMS sensors registered to the ECU.

ATEQ finally updated their vehicle database to include the 2013 Prius :)

    Using this is so easy!

    6/24/2013 Update @ 2,500 miles

I was only able to get a few things done on Sunday out of the many things I wanted to do. I'll post pictures if anyone really wants to see some.

    1) Installed 3M matte black vinyl wrap on the hood
    2) Installed JDM engine covers

Installed 3M matte black vinyl wrap on the hood.
Wrapping my hood wasn't too much trouble from what I expected it to be for one person. I might redo the hood because I'm anal like that and like everything perfect. The way I laid down the vinyl, I had to make a number of small pull and stretches in one area. The number of small corrections I had to make made the vinyl appear off color in a small area. After finishing the hood, I perfected the technique and am pretty sure I can get the whole thing on by myself and it turn out great.

While cleaning the hood and claybaring it before applying the vinyl, I noticed two small nicks from what I can only assume to be from road debris :( . I'm hoping that this vinyl can do as good as a job as my clear bra on my previous car, the vinyl is thin in comparison.

I have to thank my uncle at Quality Engraving & Design Inc. (http://qedinc.net) for being my source for my vinyl :)

    Installed JDM engine covers
I purchased these off a seller on eBay who packaged all three of the pieces together. I had these on my 2010 and just put them back on the new car. They fit without issues. I'm thinking about taking the cover for the inverter and using it as a repository for stickers.

I'm hoping to get the front bumper and headlights covered in the next week.

    Thanks for stopping by!
