    2007 --- 201k miles ---- 1 owner.

I cannot even find a single malfunction on the whole car. Runs amazing.

I was at the dealer auction and saw it on the list....Bidding (started by me) began at $1000...If I would have gotten lucky it would have ended around $1500-$1700. Didn't work out that way.

In my mind I wanted end bid to be around $2300 so that after the auction fees I'd be at $2500.

Well, it went for higher than I wanted (I was high bid @ $2450) and after auction fees I was at $2600.

I am trying to convince my wife to keep it....once we pay taxes on it we'll be just under $3000....Which is actually a lot....but....hard to find in such good condition.

I have it listed on craigslist for $4000 and suspect I would get around $3200-$3500 for it ($600 to $900 profit)...

Really much better off keeping this gem than selling for a 1-time profit.

A guy flipping a car telling you there isn't a single problem with his car. Were you ever a used car salesman? Lol

I do not understand what you are saying? I have driven many gen 2s....I actually own a 2008 Toyota Prius that I bought @ 143k miles and it currently has 183k miles. It has scuffs/imperfections on exterior including the grill slightly jacked up....It burns oil...And you can feel the bumps in the rear so possibly rear shocks. And couple finger nail spots where paint is chipped and paint turned to a fingernail-sized rust spot.

This one with 200k has mint exterior with zero scratches/imperfections. It feels much better over bumps...And obviously I won't know until a few thousand miles if it burns oil but oil level was right to full line and clean...

So it looks better and drives better than my 2008 with 183k miles.

Would the Toyota dealership find ONE mechanical issue on a detailed inspection? Possibly.

But ya, I don't get your comment at all.

It was a 1-owner and traded in to the BMW dealership with good carfax.

I think my wife is going to keep it actually...Got it Thursday and she hasn't seen it until tonight...She took it on a test drive to grocery store and that is when I made this post...

There are around 4 items at 180K miles and up where it says "suggested maintenance performed"....I can call dealership and give VIN and they will tell me what was recently done...Maybe I'll get lucky and some high-ticket repairs were just done..

If you note the miles for the first 100,000 miles of its life the guy was religiously taking it to the Toyota dealership every 5,000 miles. JUST INSANE: 15,112 miles a 15k mile checkup......20,140 another checkup......24,928 (just before 25k).....30,058......35,035.....40,022....45,047.....50,020.....55,000 on the dot.....!!!! This guy deserves some recognition. I wish I was like that but then again I'm too cheap otherwise maybe I would be!

He takes a little break between 75k and 120k miles and then it starts right up again....serviced at every 5k interval.

Congrats! Don't forget to check if the spare tire and 12v aux battery area has water.

Sounds like you got a fair deal on a good car. Best of luck!

I would add the VIN # to Toyota Owner's website to see the detailed service history at the dealerships. The car fax doesn't show if the spark plugs were replaced or not. Same with front brakes and 12v auxiliary battery.

    Excellent tip...I just created account...Nothing @ 195 and 200k (just oil change / cabin/air filters / tire rotation)....

    @ 190K :
PULL FRONT CALIPERS & SERVICE ALL HARDWARE. MACHINE THE ROTORS & REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS ~|~PULL FRONT CALIPERS & SERVICE ALL HARDWARE. MACHINE THE ROTORS & REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS ~|~FRONT BRAKE CONCERN ~|~190587 REPLACED FRONT PADS AND SHIMS, RESURFACED ROTORS, LUBRICATED MOVING COMPONENTS, AND TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE PER CUSTOMERS REQUEST.,PULL FRONT CALIPERS & SERVICE ALL HARDWARE. Aside from that nothing too juicy....Steering rack @ 120k under warranty. Nothing really major but well maintained.

No, it shows inverter/brakes/coolant/trans flushed @ 120k in December 2012....Then in February 2013 (also @ 120k) steering shaft recall and electric water pump replaced.

Does any of the services show the spark plugs being replaced? If not, it's possible that they were replaced by someone else. Or it could still be on the original ones. If it's original, I recommend replacing them and the PCV valve. Also check to see if the 12v auxiliary battery was ever replaced.

Remember the prius is designed to go about 180k miles. There can be many repairs that come up after that.

    Shocks and struts
    Coolant valves
    Inverter pump
    Water pump
    Brake hardware
    Axle seal failures
    Axle bearing failures
    HV battery failure
    Transaxle and engine failure
    Countless ECU failures

And these are just the common expenses. You would need to be a handy DIY expert to own a high mileage prius. Going to the dealer will kill your pocketbook

My sister has a 2005 with 308,000 miles. Only parts replaced other than spark plugs > water pump, AC compressor ($70 used and took an hour to replace) and one wheel bearing. The only issue is oil consumption unfortunately. My sister checks the oil at every fill up. Maybe it's true they were "only designed for 180,000" but easily 200,000 with little to no repairs (in most cases)

Weather Tech floor mats $50 on Craigslist (I paid $100 for my other used set of weather tech floor mats last fall).

They were a little dirty when I got them:

But cleaned up ok and will do their job (keeping carpet from getting baby stuff (gum, candy, chocolate, juice, pop, etc.) embedded into carpet):

Since your child sits on the passenger side of the back seat, it could be worth it to get a filter or "deflector" of some kind to keep small objects out of the fan intake right next to him or her. One cause of early traction battery failure is hair and debris going into the fan intake.

I had a blue 2008 and if it looked that good I would still be driving it.

This was from April 2017. My wife kept that blue Prius for a while....Then she switched to the silver one in my profile....Then she switched to a 2012 Toyota Prius Plug In....She is on her 3rd prius all within the last year!

The 2012 is the newest, and rides good. But it is in no way, shape, or form in the type of condition as the blue 2007 - which was mint.

I feel like I fell for the "plug-in" feature, which, in my opinion, is a huge gimmick. I guess it does have a bigger hybrid battery than the regular gen 3s.

It has 225K or so miles, interior/exterior are both in fair condition. I will be selling that very soon because I think the value has come down quite a bit. I have about $6000 into the thing and I think for about $6000 I can get an excellent condition 2012 with under 150K miles.

I think I'd be lucky to get $5000 for it :(

Good thing it drives excellent with no mechanical problems, and has heated seats, satellite radio, nav/backup cam...and plug-in gimmick
