    I googled "how to clean a stained dipstick"... barely anything came up. (Hard to imagine not finding commonly unasked questions on Internet.)

    But I stumbled onto the one and only YouTube video, where this guy demonstrates cleaning a dipstick with WD-40 and a steel wool scrub.

    Is WD-40 safe to use on a dipstick?

    You'll be wiping it clean before putting it back into your oil. But honestly, if your dipstick looks that bad, can't imagine what you can't see inside the engine.

    Brake cleaner might work also, as well as acetone. Just use a little elbow grease and it should come off
