Does anyone have debris collecting right there in the valley of rear window?
Mine is collecting pine needles and they don't even come out unless I go and try to pull them out of the big gap between the window and body\spoiler or whatever you call that piece. Why didn't they seal off that gap?

I have issue with leaves collecting under the wiper arms too.
They probably don't seal the channel because not everyone parks the car under a pine tree... or other shedding in the fall kind of tree.

a thin piece of painters tape might work if you don't mind reapplying when necessary.

Thanks for the link... so that gap is actually a gutter? You have got to be kidding me. The least they could have gone is have gutterguard on it..

3rd gen is a similar story. When wrapping up washing the car I go over it with a leaf blower, chasing most of the water off, and also try to shoo needles etcetera out of that zone, between the window and the rear spoiler. With limited success.

I don't remember ever having a car that didn't collect small leaves, twigs, and pine needles in those kinds of places. I guess it's just one more 1st world problem.

yes and no. My Gen 2, and also an Infiniti both collected that stuff, but they built up in the drain channels under the trunk\hatch lid. so you hardly see them until you open the trunk or hatch.
On the prime, since there's no rear wiper, everything gets pushed to the middle valley by air and end up staying there, right smacking in the middle of my rear view.

If only there were enough pine trees here to have such a problem!

another question on this. How come only the Prime has this valley feature? If it's something helpful for the aerodynamics of the car, wouldn't you think the regular Prius would have it too?

It’s something they were experimenting With along with the CFRP hatch. They’ve always put the newest things on the Prius first since it’s low volume, low risk. The Prime is even lower volume and lower risk. I highly doubt they’ll use either again as the newer UX has the Super Olefin Polymer for it’s tailgate and no valley.
