I just finished plasti-dipping the front and back emblem on my prius. super easy to take the parts off the vehicle. I also painted the plastic backing to silver to match the paint.

Next step will be to finnish the other emblems on the side and back. woohoo!!

    just wanted to share

You don't need to take the parts off if you use plastidip though.

Mask off areas and you can carefully peel off the areas of overspray.

It's still a lot easier to remove them for a perfect look. ;)

Very true... ockevin was asking how it would be possible without removal, so I answered it. :)

I found it much easier to do it without removing them. And I ruined the hybrid badge when I removed it. See .sig for link to pics.

its actually hard, using plasti dip with the emblems. I did it on my back logos, when I tried peeling it off from the sides, everything came out. Even masking off areas.

removing the HYBRID emblems from the front fenders to put my turn signals/markers there ruined those emblems.....not that I was going to use them for anything anyway, but still, it ruined them removing them.

    Process was super easy.

    The front: no tools required
-Remove three plastic locking screw things (they are total
Garbage) at the front of the hood.
-Take off the black plastic cover
-Use your hand to squeeze the clips on the back of the emblem and it should pop out (plastic backing and chrome emblem)

The back: need a credit card
-slide the credit card under the bottom of the emem at the bottom
-slide it around the side working about half of it under the plastic cover
-apply pressure and it popped right off!

Taking off both took literally 3 minutes

Ah, you didn't take off any of the ones that are taped down. That explains it.

I plan on tackling this option also. Wondering what the Plus Performance badge will look like in Plasti Dip? I will post pics when I'm done.

I did the rest of the emblems and they came out pretty good. front left "hybrid" logo needs some touch up but very pleased. definitely worth the effort

I tried removing the rear emblem, but it isn't coming out! Its actually starting to permanently bend the emblem! I used a credit card like you said. Any tips?

Got a heat gun? Be careful, you don't want to strip the paint...
