It is likely the brake actuator sounding the death knell.

Do you have any trouble codes to share?

Have the car in ready mode while listening to the noise. Now press the brake pedal firmly several times - quickly. Does the sound become more frequent or continuous?

If it does then the noise is the pump inside the brake actuator assembly. The actuator contains the pump, hydraulic valve block, and other bits in one "you have to replace the whole part" & is leaking internally (quite badly) and is well on its way to complete failure.
