Does someone know what part this is? or how to go about ordering it?

I am afraid to go to the Toyota Dealership because they try to rip me off and I lost my job due to COVID so I can't pay for something if its super expensive to fix.

Here's the Toyota part. $17. Not sure if it comes in colors or if you have to have it painted.

Thank you! Do you know how much they should charge to put it in?

I don't even know you and I know you can do it yourself.

Is your car under warranty? See this youtube video starting at the 6 minute mark:

If you have to snap it in yourself it is very easy. You may have to paint it.

A 2014 would be out of warranty, no? (at least for the 3-year bumper-to-bumper. I don't think that part qualifies for any other warranty)

    @JenniferLWeddingPlanner

These "tow hook caps" very commonly fall off. The cover has a latch system that is very similar to how the battery cover on a TV remote control clicks into place. If you can replace a battery in a TV remote control, you can install this part.

If you search ebay for "Prius C tow hook cover", many options will appear. This one is $15 with free shipping. If you're not able to get one with your color, every autoparts store like AutoZone, has cans of touch up paint available. They should be able to get the color matched pretty close.

Sorry about the job. If you can plan a wedding, you can do this. The only unknown is the color. As @TMR-JWAP said, you can get a can of touch up paint that matches, put the part on a piece of card board outside and spray it lightly. Let it dry, and coat it again letting it completely dry each time. Then just pop it in.

    Asked and answered.

    +1 to:
    "You can do it."

You have a 2014 Prius c which is a REALLY reliable car!
HOWEVER (Comma!) it's six years old now and like many six-year-olds it is going to start costing money to keep up with.

Even when you DO get another job, nobody can afford to pay dealership mechanics for routing maintenance EVEN IF they are honest, and it's been my experience that some of them are not.

    I know.
People are always shocked when they hear this.

    Here's the thing:
Your vehicle has a maintenance guide that looks like this: (because it IS this!)
    https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omms-s/T-MMS-14PriusC/pdf/2014_Toyota_Prius%20c_WMG_lr.pdf

There is not a single one of those items that you cannot do yourself BUT more importantly there isn't ANYTHING else you need to do to your car to MAINTAIN it....so if a mechanic (especially a dealership mechanic) "suggests" that you need anything that isn't in the maintenance guide???

    It's not MAINTENANCE,

It's a repair....like your missing tow hook cover.

You did exactly the right thing here.
You armed yourself with knowledge, and got second (and third) opinions.

    Good Luck!

Thanks so much everyone! Great info I feel much better now! I will let you know if I attempt to fix it myself! Even though it scares the crap out of me. I am going to the dealership tomorrow just to see what they say *eye roll* and fight with them a little.

And then see their faces when you say "Hmm ok. I'll just go buy the part and attach it myself" after they say "only we can fix it" lol

I am looking forward to reading the Wedding Planner's successful part acquisition and install story :)
Fighting at Toyota and eye rolling may be worth bonus points to add to the story.

    Good luck.

Little detail: the new part will have a skinny little tether on the back sticking out from one corner. You can see it here, like the little pokey plastic tethers that hold tags on new clothes:

Just poke that through the small hole you see in the top right corner of the opening here:

That way, even when you pop the cover out, it doesn't get lost.

I'm going to put myself out on a limb here and say they're going to be honest about the part. BUT....
    1. $165 to paint and install it.
    2. they're going to 'find' about $600 worth of services that are due

how many miles on the tires? how old?

can you turn the front wheels all the way to one side and get some pics of the tread?

where in florida? maybe someone knows a good mech.

anyone can paint that part and pop it in, and give you a second opinion on tires.

you can enter your vin at toyota.com/owners. it may or may not show the tire install date, depending if toyota did it or someone else.

if you're saying they have 80k on them, i would just replace them, and not spend money on the missing cover.
but if the tread is evenly worn, and not down to the wear markers, maybe not.

    what make and model?
