    To the OP you got me curious and I popped the hood on my 07 and that intake hose is very strange. The top half of the hose (hood side) is very soft but the bottom half of the hose towards the engine is hard rubber. I'm talking diameter wise.
    Its not uniform hardness when you squeeze it.

    I could have sworn that hose was a uniform hard rubber when it was new. Next time I'm at the dealer I will ask to see one.
    It should be a hard rubber so it cannot do what yours did imho. I think.
