...On the 2012's are for aerodynamics - or maybe have super-cooling attributes for the discs - or something ... Please!?! (Is there any cure for the ugly?)

    BlackBerry 9930 ?

Unfortunately for some the wheels underneath are black. A lot of people consider black wheels trashy. I have to keep my covers on. lol

I believe someone posted that they were designed to reduce the turbulence otherwise created by the wheel spokes. I suspect this effect is minimal as I have been over 50mpg avg since picking it up. But more importantly, as many others have stated, they are ugly. They may look better than black rims on some colors, but I had mine off minutes after I got home.

Man, wish somebody in the Roanoke, VA area would trade my silver rims for the black ones. I'm still averaging over 50 mpg's without the ugly snap on covers.

The 15" are black on the 2012 hatchback. I happen to like them with Seaglass Pearl and the black sunroof/solar panel. I took my covers off. (The Guy at The Tire Store admired them also.) :D

I agree, IMO the black wheel kinda looks like the black steel wheel under common wheel covers.

It's not my cup of tea but some like it. Now they are so common on every modified car around here that I could never consider running them. Just too many beat up cars with big black wheels.

I'm not trying to be disrespectful to those of you who run them. It's just not an image I want to be associated with due to the type of cars/trucks that run them in my area. :)

And I would never try to be disrespectful to those who keep the ugly plastic bits on. :)

Actually, my car isn't beat up and my wheels aren't big. :D And I don't think there's the same association with black wheels up here as there probably is down there. Or maybe I'm just naive - it wouldn't be the first time. It's all good.

    Choice is a wonderful thing!

Portland is a nice area so it is likely different. Here it's much too ghetto. :)

So, who wants to trade me their stock black wheels, for my stock silver ones

I am capless, however, I'm also center-capless and that's just ugly. I hope all you guys running without the hubcaps, are using center caps. I just removed mine to find this disappointing fact out.

I'm sure the dealer sells center caps for an outrageous price, is there a good option out there for less to fill the holes?

I believe the title on that Toyota page is ambiguous. It says "Aluminum Wheel Center Caps"
You can read it as the caps are aluminum or they are caps for aluminum wheels.

The ones the dealer showed me were exactly like what is shown in that link, and they were plastic. I got mine from eBay for a fraction of the dealer cost. Nothing wrong with the plastic all they do is plug a hole! lol! :D

I had to take them off. Black alloy wheels would not have been my choice but it works with Blizzard Pearl with black solar roof, the black/white color scheme. I put the plastic hub caps at the curb and they were gone in an hour. Got the Toyota hub cap centers (Yaris ones fits) and use Meguiars Hot Shine Tire Dressing to gloss up the tires.

Again, not the look I'd purchase on purpose but I see more than a few of the pump boys going all black wheels for $1,000 so I'm dancing with the wheels that brung me.
