The question has come up, how much do Prius drivers really drive their Prius, and I can't find a recent poll on this, so I'm breaking new territory here and making my own poll!

Are you the little-old-lady driving the car only on Sundays, or the traveling salesman stereotypes, or somewhere in between?

    Thanks for your participation!

I do about 28-30 a year. I drive just for the heck of it. If I had more time off, I'd use it to drive more. I used to have a 40 mile roundtrip commute, but now it's less than 2 miles, so that'll help slow the odometer a bit :)

I based my answer on how many miles were on my 1997 Mazda 626: 106k

Looking at my current commute of 16 miles/day, I'm still right at the 5k/year mark. Add in a few longer trips and I'll still be under 7.5k/year.

I'm averaging around $15,000. It sounds like a lot but in addition to my work transportation, the Prius serves as our sole weekend transportation source. My husband now averages around 4,100 miles/year on his car so combined, our annual mileage isn't that bad.

When I posted mine (30-40K) I guess that I was the high roller. We previously were averaging 33K/year on our Siena (which the Prius basically replaces) and we were looking at this number being higher in the future. That was our reason, pure and simple for buying a Prius (despite what the NYTimes said about MY reasons  ).

I used to drive about 6,000 mies a year. But now that the Xebra has replaced the Prius for most daily driving, I'll be driving the Prius less than 2,000 miles a year. Occasional trips to Coeur d'Alene, just outside the Xebra's range, and summers in Canada.

we put about 15k a year on the prius. my commute is short, but it's also the errand car, the going-places car, and the cross-country-twice-a-year car.

    12,000 per year.

I normally drive about 12k per year, but the Prius now has 10k in just over 6 mos. We have taken two long trips, one to San Diego and one to Portland so that accounts for 3 - 4k of the 10k. It is the primary vehicle for the weekends now.

I commute 100 miles per day, plus 50-100 on weekends for approx. 31000-33000 per year.

Exactly 33,652 miles in one year. I drive a 43 mile one way commute, plus a few trips to Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, and a West Coast road trip...it all adds up.

34,500 in the first year. Fortunately, I get reimbursed for nearly every one of them. I got the Prius with the intention of it being a profit center and it is doing that very well. All things considered, I pocket about 11 cents per mile. (Where the #$% is the cent sign on my keyboard?).

My commute is about 25 miles a day, round trip. 184 days. Plus the occasional shopping or visit to the parents.

If I decide to apply for the library position at my old school and I'm hired, my commute will be 1.5 miles a day. Significantly reduced.

This is why when I sold my 9 year old Saturn SC2 coupe it only had 48,000 miles on it. And that included a yearly trip to Palm Springs and some occasional trips to L.A.

So currently I'm estimating slightly less than 10,000. If I change schools, it will drop to probably less than 7,000 a year.

I'm defenatley in the 20,000 to 30,000 a mile per year range. I do real estate appraisals for a living and I drive on average 75 miles a day, 6 days a week for work alone. Then there is personal miles, so it adds up quick!
