Possible Gen3 Prius Transaxle Failure at 70,600 miles :(

    Thanks for that. Looked at it and it only covers 15,000 km past warranty upto 10 years. I was about 10,000 miles past warranty and had full dealer service. Perhaps the fact the car was fully serviced by Toyota meant the dealers had already checked the hybrid system every time they serviced the car (the last time being September 2012).

    No, you can extend it every year or 15k km until the car is 10 years old (Annual Hybrid Health Check-Up). It even doesn't matter if you skip one check up, as long as you pass the next check up. But as I said check this at your dealer, or send mail directly to Toyota UK.

    :) I wasn't sure because GC still had motion. Guess there are two parts/redundancy to the inverter.

    Yeah, see a couple inverters on E-bay... make a person want to stash one just in case.
