Possible Monthly install meets. Bay Area-Fremont

Sounds like preparations are beginning.

 

So we are now less than 2 weeks away from the next meet up! This round is again at @Rebound 's place in Fremont on Saturday June 24th.

So far here's what I know in the way of attendees or work:

1. @Rebound : egr to intake manifold cleaning (with video recording )
2. Myself with headlight restoration (or defer if @Pedal Logic wants to drive down this time)
3. @Pedal Logic (not sure if Marc has something he wants to tackle or not)
4. ??
5. Etc.

Help fill in the blanks so we can coordinate tools or other needs (like food).

Keep us updated .

 

I have got to see what's up with my wife's car. She's probably the better candidate right now. Or maybe mine needs an oil change... I'll check the log.

A friend who designs LED lighting just loaned me a massive light panel and stand. We'll have a Iot of light.

Thanks to @SFO and @mmmodem for coming.

While we didn't get everything done on the lists, we were able to get @Rebound 's intake manifold cleaned and egr system removed.

We'll see how the removal video turns out as there is no good way to shoot the video. Sorry @Mendel Leisk . Getting to the back nuts and underneath egr cooler support nut do not lend themselves to a good angle to video.

Last job was to get @SFO 's reconditioning harness installed. Also were able to clean the HV Battery fan, as it needed it.

Looking for input on the next meet up dates. @Pedal Logic has offered up Lafayette and my place in Fairfield is always an option.

Good conversation, food and fun had by all.

I'll be interested too. I tinted my own windows and can do a DIY clinic. I have a 4 month old baby too.

We do not have a date set up for the next meet up yet, so feel free to suggest dates .

Potential locations are Fairfield (at my house), Lafayette ( at @Pedal Logic 's Smart Pedal HQ), Fremont or......

So we have the Bay Area pretty well covered.

Happy to host if that turns out to be the best option. Happy to report that I lost 7 lbs over 12 days straight of major work on house, most of it outdoors. I look like I just got back from Hawaii. If only...

I guess the question is did the FLIR show improvement in the insulation and make it worth the weight loss?

Stay subscribed to the thread. What work do you need? Where are you located? Maybe we can have a mini-meet.

 

It hasn't been as hot outside as it was during the install, so it's hard to say for sure. My guess is that we went from R15 (dusty, compressed installed fiberglass bats) to a true R31.

Whatever the actual delta in heating/cooling efficiency, I'm pretty sure I'll exaggerate it in my own mind just so that I feel like the investment in time and money was worth it.

 

I'm out in Brentwood. I don't need any mods done but I know how to turn a wrench and can contribute to a mod day for any other modders. I also have the ECU plug in module with the Carista app for anyone that would like there reverse beep or seatbelt alarm turned off. Just looking to meet fellow car enthusiasts.

 

So maybe the Lafayette location would be better for the next one?

I'll start:

Lafayette at Smart Pedal headquarters Saturday August 12th. Hopefully this will work for @Pedal Logic and others. I won't have any maintenance on my todo list (much like last time), but I might bring the RX and we'll call this a hybrid meetup.

 

How about meeting in Fremont? I live in south san jose and feel Lafayette is a bit of a drive for me since I'll be sneaking out of the house with a newborn. I'm just conning out to meet members, chat, and learn. I own now a 2016 prius. I had a 06 before.
