if you mean kitch by "garish, vulgar", then i must disagree. i love colored calipers. as i'm not likely to get brembros to put on a prius, these covers will suffice.

PLUS, they really do help keep the black wheels clean!

Any plans to black out the roof? Also what tint level and type do you have?

no current plans to black out the roof. the tint is 5% all around. i had my stereo guy wire the led fogs to 'always on'. so when the car is on, the fogs are on. the headlights have been upgraded to HIDs, and all the interior lights are LEDs. Surprisingly, I'm still getting 41mpg with the new tire and wheel set up.

been considering the thought myself lately thou I do not care to mess up the consumption, that beeing said I'm fine with 15s I like a bit of tire anyhow, I gathered so far the stock wheels are 15x6 with a 45 offset ( what's the 45 stand for? 4 1/2 inch, cant be mm that would be too small), also anybody know what the stock rim weigh, I seen you all shooting for 14 lbs is that the ultimate light weigh?
I really would not mind bringing them out a bit, maybe lower (1 1/2 perhaps) in the future. What is a reasonable offset, lower height to aim for without having to mess up the mpg too bad?
also any other cars I may consider stealing from like the celica rims, I haven't seen any arround here, I live in Michigan big 3 country not a whole lot of import stuff available.

for example: See Wheels on Your Vehicle - Discount Tire
cheap enough, they are a decent brand but I would not be the wiser,
they look awfull light but it's not beeing disclosed,
I always liked a little extra tire, no rubber bands for me,
from what I can tell it's a 40 offset, and I figured out what that means since my last post, stock is supposed to be 45, so it should bring them out a bit 5 mm is not that much, hopefully enough but not too much, they are 6.55 wide again a bit wider but not too much in theory that should bring the lip out an extra 1/4 inch, aprox 6.2mm plus the 5mm offset, 1cm does not seem like a lot
I always had 2 - 3 sizes larger tires on my cars and I like them that way rides a lot better too, never bought rims, unless it was a junkyard stock upgrade to what I had.
I would assume that since discount tire recomends it for the prius, the pressure monitor, bolt pattern and hub diameterr are all corect but what do I know, can anyone shed some light on this?
Also right arround this price there is : See Wheels on Your Vehicle - Discount Tire those look an awfull lot like those touring wheels I read about, supposedly a good compromise between looks and economy, and I could live without the looks, but I can't tell any other specs such as backspace.
I also read about the different manufacturing proceses and theys differences thou I could not tell you what these are, maybe you can.

    Your link doesn't show anything...

This is pretty handy.. 1010TIRES.COM - Wheel Offset Calculator

I'm currently running 15mm spacers up front and 30mm in back but also have my fenders rolled.

We have on the Gen2 hub centric wheels (54.1mm) with a 5x100 bolt pattern - several aftermarket wheels have a larger hub bore requiring the need for hub rings which can be picked up pretty cheap.

as usual thanks for the links and for mine I tried it too, you have to select the color, try www.discounttire.com they have a cool simulator, and as for prices they are more than reasonable, several under $100, but there are no real specs listed, granted its a prius so you don't need the strongest wheel but weight would be nice to know, any ideea what the stock weighs?

just checked your calculator, inner stays the same EXTEND an extra 12mm on the outer lip I was pretty dead on the way I figured it

    I came up with this:

    Plugin Prius
    15" wheel weighs 18.25 lbs

    2010-2013 Prius - NON Plugin
    15" wheel weighs 16.3 lbs,
    17" wheel weighs 24.25 lbs

    2004-2009 Prius
    15" wheel weighs 14.3 lbs
    16" wheel weighs 15.2 lbs

    2001-2003 Prius
    14" wheel weighs 13 lbs

oh wow the stock are pretty light, it would be a bit of a task to mach further more do better it's odd how the newer ones are heavier particularly the plug in.
I checked on a price and they mention wheel instalation kit?????????? wonder what that is about one in particular hubcentric rings,
my thing at this time I was looking at the stocks 6 spoke 5 lug looks a bit funny, so I was considering a 5 or 10 spoke patern, I have to make a call find out more

did you happen to put a rim on the scales first?
or perhaps you know what they weigh
just so we can try to track MPG differences + wheel sizes/weights
    it looks great though
    I much prefer silver color
