Recent and continued increases in gasoline prices is making EV demand go even higher. That means higher prices and longer EV delays. So when asked, I always include:
    • $2.75 to drive 100 miles in town not counting 1/4 th free charges at Whole Foods, Propst Drugs, Stovehouse Bar.
    • $3.50 to drive 100 miles on the highway.
With our former Prius, I used to brag that the gasoline saving made one car payment each year. With our EV, driving isn't free but dang close.

with the potential rise in oil prices, maybe people and companies and governments and grid operators will begin to realize the potential benefits of a faster conversion of transportation energy

We use premium, per my advice, in all gassers in the household. I was driving through one of the most expensive cities here in Southern California, San Marino, and snapped a pic of basically $6/gallon premium. It's a little hard to see but it's "$5.99"!

$1.77~$1.80 CDN per liter here, for regular. My fuzzy math converts the $1.80 to $5.39 USD per US gallon, with current exchange rate.

addendum: chevron premium is currently $2 CDN, which converts to $5.98 USD per US gallon.

Um, why? Some places have premium be ethanol free, but California isn't one of them.

Gasoline is not the only thing that increased in price. Our electricity supply rate went up 89% starting Jan 1 this year and will stay at that rate the entire year of 2022. At a current local gas price of $3.50/gal, it is cheaper to drive on EV mode in my PP but not by much. If I switch to a less efficient BEV (that would be almost every BEV on market except M3), it is likely that fuel cost (electricity) for our transportation would increase.

Inflation is roaring in our country now. Our grocery bill has gone up dramatically.

I wish I could get a gallon of milk for the price of a gallon of gas.

I'm sure the grocery cashier would let you donate or pay extra for the milk.

Milk $2.99 or 3.09/gal, gasoline $4.099/gal at my closest big grocery store.

You can not make blanket statements about different parts of the country.

It is also irrational to quote a post and not know what situation an individual is talking about.

In our area a gallon of gas cost $3.24. We buy a 2% blend of milk and brand that is now $4.01 a gallon.

Why would you make a post like above, without knowing the particulars of what a situation is where an individual lives.

You area is different-my post referred to our situation. Also maybe in a round about way you are just showing how your area is different, in which case I can better understand your post and apologize if I overreacted.

Well, $4.01 a gallon of milk is relatively cheap. The milk we always buy cost $11.79/gal locally. Store brand cheapest kinds of milk are now around $3.50 locally, so that makes just about the same price as 1 gal of gas around here.

I am happy with our RAV4HV at 40 mpg.
These days we do not use too much gas, and when we do we are usually getting 40-50 cents off from grocery store points.
I feel like $4 is not quite the same as before with all the discounts on that.
So far it is short lived so let's see longer term.

PS- I forget my PS stay tuned. OK now I remember! My gaso bill is tiny compared to my iPhone/Cable TV bills, and we just have bare min. No HBO or nothin extra.

I shop at Krogers and looked at their milk in our area on Monday of this week. It was $3.29 a gallon in our area for the store brand. The kids and wife like a local produced brand so I buy it . I think you just don't get the concept of respecting other peoples actual experience, but have some driving impulse to be right. If we were talking about this two days ago I would get the receipt out of the garbage and post an image of the price I paid for the milk we got.

Here is a question for you to extrapolate on:

As inflation is crushing people at the grocery store and the price of groceries is continuing to accelerate as well as gas and other commodities -
Why is the stock market falling off the cliff as many people now are watching their retirement and stock holdings value evaporate.
Shouldn't the stock market go up as the price of needed goods go up. Peoples available savings and investments are shrinking -interest rates which used to help cushion inflation are still compressed but goods costs are skyrocketing and supply chains for goods are stressed to the breaking point

One answer is the current unrest in the world but I wonder if there isn't a deeper fundamental underlying cause that is also affecting the stock market ( thank goodness for Stable Value Funds)

The Coke milk is good, but it does undergo extra processing that raises the cost.

What is "Coke milk"? Never hard the term and Googling it hit the following ...
Milk coke is indeed a thing, but it appears to be popular in Thailand and China, not Birmingham. Traditional milk coke is made with condensed milk, rather than regular semi-skimmed, giving it a creamy consistency not unlike the dregs of a coke float. It actually looks rather good.
Somehow, I suspect this concoction drink is not what you meant.

In any case, I like wholesome milk taste without any additives. Unfortunately, I developed lactose intolerance as I got older. Tried Lactaid milk first, but that was too sweet. Most lactose-free milk has a sweeter flavor than regular milk due to the action of lactase which breaks down milk sugar (lactose) into two simple sugars (glucose and galactose). Have tried various lactose-free milk and non-dairy milk substitutes, soy, oat, rice, almond, cashew but none have the same wholesome milk taste. So far, the fairlife brand milk is the closest to the real milk I remember. Yeah, it is expensive, but for the smooth silky mouthfeel of flat white, I have to have it. BTW, there are various brands of milk mostly organic that come very close to or even more expensive than the price of fairlife.
