Power converter

For the 2nd time, my 2013 Prius almost killed me. About 16 months ago, I was pulling into traffic, heard (and felt) a loud pop. The car slowed like I hit the breaks. All the lights came on, the breaks would barely work and I had to cost too the side of the road. Imagine if I were on a Florida freeway doing 80?........The car loudly buzzing non stop was towed and I was told it was the "Power Converter" The part that converts the power from the battery to the car. It took a week to "Fix". They did not give me a rental. Today, same thing. I was almost rear ended! Wth? My family buys Toyota for the quality and safety! I saw online many people have had this issue but it seems Toyota is downplaying it. My kids ride in this car! This is BS!
